Super Street Fighter IV is fast approaching to the delight Xbox 360 and PS3 gamers, but the Wii gamers are once again being left out. Nintendo fan-boys have no fear, because it would appear that Capcom may have something for you to prove that that haven’t forgotten you… err that is to say that they haven’t forgotten those of you with Wii Fit.
In an interview with Videogamer producer Yoshinori Ono gave his stance on a Street Fighter game hitting the Wii:
An exercise game based around the popular fighting series doesn’t seem like the game that Wii owners are hoping for, especially when we have seen fighting games featuring Street Fighter characters (i.e. Tatsunoko vs. Capcom) work just fine on the system. If you’re not excited for a possible Street Fighter Fit installment on the Wii then there is always the rumored announcement of Marvel vs. Capcom 3 that may hit us sometime this May.
“I’ve been interested in motion-sensing for a while, ever since Wii was launched. But I don’t think it fits the way Street Fighter is played at the moment. It does broaden the appeal to casual users simply because of the instinctive controls, but it just doesn’t quite fit an intricately balanced game such as Street Fighter."
“So what we would like to do is lower the entry barrier for those who have never played the fighting genre before so we can convey that fighting games are a good tool, a good fun thing to have per family."
“Now, there is a possibility of doing something called Street Fighter Fit, or Street Fighter Exercise, that is more suited for motion-sensing games, but that would obviously be a slightly different-themed game.”
What do you think about Street Fighter Fit? What fitness games would you hope are on it? Smashing a car perhaps?
