Sebastian’s definitely in the running for the most popular marriage candidate in Stardew Valley — and it’s not hard to see why.
The smoking habit might be a bit of a turn-off for some, and he can be a bit of a moody loner, but one of the big draws is his bevy of interesting and relatable hobbies, whether he’s playing tabletop RPGs with his friends or working on his motorcycle.
If you’re looking to get to know him and win his heart, we’ve got everything you need to know in order to accomplish just that.

Sebastian’s Basic Info
Sebastian lives with his parents at Robin’s and stays in the basement. His birthday is in the winter, and he is happy to receive gifts from players. He does work as a programmer, which will keep him at home.
- Birthday: Winter 10 Home Location: Robin’s Shop Clinic Visit: Summer 4 Night Market Visit: Winter 16 Occupation: Freelance Programmer
Sebastian’s Schedule
Sebastian can be a bit hard to interact with at first as he spends a lot of time inside his room. The player won’t be able to enter until they get at least two hearts with him. The guide below has been tailored to mark the times when Sebastian leaves his room to go upstairs. Opening the path to the railway and increasing your friendship with him will impact his schedule.
Gifting to Sebastian
Sebastian is a character that can be easy to get loved items for. All the player needs to do is make it to the frozen levels of the mine or by picking up Sashimi when it’s in stock at the Stardrop Saloon. He does hate almost all artisan goods and has a lengthy list of items he dislikes and hates. Marrying a character will mean increasing your friendship level with them, so be sure to give Sebastian as many gifts as you can and talk to him every day!
Except Farmer’s Lunch, Complete Breakfast, Omelets, and most Artisan Goods
Except Fruit Tree Fruit
Except Flounder, Carp, and Snails
Except Clay, Obsidian, Fish, and Void Eggs

Dating Sebastian
Despite the fact that Sebastian spends a lot of time inside, most of his events will be triggered by going to different areas of the map. There are no decisions that impact friendship with Sebastian. This makes his events easier to handle than most, as it’s practically impossible to mess them up.
Sebastian’s Two Hearts Cutscene
To activate Sebastian’s two heart event, simply visit his room while he is there. For this event, you will be let into Sebastian’s room, where you will find him working. He will tell you about his job. It’s revealed that Sebastian is frustrated by the way his friends act towards his work life.
None of the conversation options will change your friendship level with him.
Sebastian’s Four Hearts Cutscene
This event will trigger when you go to the mountains between 11 am and 5 pm. You will learn that Sebastian has a motorcycle as he will be outside the garage working on it.
None of the dialogue choices will affect your friendship level with Sebastian.
Sebastian’s Six Hearts Cutscene
For this event, simply visit Sebastian’s room when he is home. This time he will have Sam over, and they will be in the middle of a board game. He will ask you to join, and you will be able to choose what type of character you want to play.
Picking the correct decisions can help you and your team make it through the board game scenario, but none of them have an impact on your friendship level.
Sebastian’s Eight Hearts Cutscene
For this event, it can’t be winter, and the player will need to visit the beach on a rainy day between 12 pm and 11 pm. Sebastian will be standing on the pier and cover you with an umbrella. He will then open up to the player concerning his social anxiety issues.
Again, though, none of the dialogue options will alter your friendship level with him.
How To Start Dating Sebastian
As soon as you achieve 8 hearts with one of the characters you can marry in Stardew Valley, you’ll get a special letter in the mail from Pierre. He informs you that he’s got a new item in the shop: a Bouquet!
It only costs 200g and you can give it to Sebastian to declare your interest in dating him. He’ll happily accept, assuming his friendship level hasn’t lowered for some reason, and his title will change from “Single” to “Boyfriend” in the Social tab.
Sebastian’s Ten Hearts Cutscene
This event will require the player to visit the mountain after 8 pm and before midnight. Sebastian will take you on a motorcycle ride until you are right outside Zuzu City. He will confess his feelings to you after stopping on a cliffside.
Marrying Sebastian
Once you reach 10 hearts of friendship with Sebastian, you get a special note from Mayor Lewis. It informs you about a special tradition in Stardew Valley: people propose by offering up a Mermaid Pendant. He doesn’t tell you how to get one, though!
What you need to do is purchase the Mermaid Pendant for 5,000g from the Old Mariner, an NPC on the beach. He’ll only appear there on rainy days, and he’s on the far-right side near the tidal pools, so you need to have repaired that bridge with Robin. Even then, he’ll only give it to you if you’ve also upgraded your farmhouse at least once.
Once you offer the Mermaid Pendant to Sebastian, he will accept with joy! At that point, your wedding will be scheduled for three days from the day you proposed. (If an event is happening in the Town Square, by chance, on your wedding day, your wedding will just be pushed back a day.)
After your beautiful ceremony, you and Sebastian will be returned to the farm. Sebastian’s unique room will be added to the right-hand side of the house and his motorcycle will be placed in a special area outside.
Marriage Schedule
After marriage, your spouse will move in with you and spend most of their time around the farm. They only have set schedules to follow on Mondays and Fridays. Otherwise, they’ll spend their time…
- Watering crops Feeding animals Watering the animal bowl Repairing broken fences Giving you gifts Decorating the house In their unique outside area In their unique indoor room
Sebastian’s Fourteen Hearts Cutscene
Spouses can reach a maximum heart level of 14, and that activates a unique cutscene for them.
To trigger this event with Sebastian, you’ll have to go to the mountain between 6 am and 7 pm on a rainy day. You will see an adorable cutscene and the aftermath will actually change the spouse room in your house permanently.
None of the options result in a friendship change with him, though.
