Sony is celebrating PlayStation Plus’ five-year anniversary by offering a “limited edition gift” to the service’s most loyal fans.
Players who have been subscribed to the service since the beginning will receive an email later today with details on the reward, although what exactly it is remains a secret.
“Today marks the 5th anniversary of PlayStation Plus and we’d like to thank all of you for being part of five fantastic years,” said Sony.
“To celebrate those of you that have been with us from the very beginning, a limited edition gift will be arriving in the mail for those of you that have been part of the journey since the very start. Think you may be one of them? Then keep a close eye on your emails as we’ll be getting in touch today.”
PlayStation Plus launched in Europe on June 29, 2010, but has only been required to play online multiplayer games since PS4’s launch in November 2013. As well as enabling access to PS4 multiplayer, the service also offers subscribers a range of free games each month to play for the duration of their subscription.
An annual subscription costs £39.99. Next month’s free PS Plus games are due to go live next Tuesday, July 7.
UPDATE: According to those members who have received the email, the gift is a personalised print of “everything you’ve achieved as a PlayStation Plus member”.
