Sony is working on bringing PS2 games to PS4 via emulation, and you can see the first titles to utilise the emulator right now if you pick up the Star Wars Battlefront console bundle including four classic titles – three of which are PS2 games.

“We are working on utilising PS2 emulation technology to bring PS2 games forward to the current generation,” confirmed a Sony rep in a statement to Wired. “We have nothing further to comment at this point in time.”

The emulator was actually spotted by Digital Foundry, who posted a video of the application able to render PS2 games Star Wars: Racer Revenge, Star Wars: Jedi Starfighter, and Star Wars: Bounty Hunter at a resolution above 720p and at superior frame rates.

How Sony plans to use the emulator going forward remains to be seen, but a new PS2 games store for PS4 would not be a great surprise.
