The SNES Classic has drummed up an impressive four million sales globally, Nintendo confirmed during its latest earnings call. Not only that, but the retro-flavoured mini console has also barrelled past the NES Classic in terms of overall sales.
Ninty’s pint-sized 16-bit system hit stores back in September, and offers a huge range of titles including Super Mario World, The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past, Star Fox 2, and many more. The SNES Classic will set you back around £79.99 and displays all of its games in glorious high-definition.
The NES mini was discontinued after shipping 2.3 million units worldwide, although The Big N will resume production of the console this year. Right now, all eyes are on Nintendo to see if a possible N64 Classic will materialise, though a recent trademark filing has indicated something may be in the pipeline.
We’re not going to lie; the prospect of reliving the likes of Super Mario 64 and Star Fox 64 all over again has us giddy as a school girl. Make it happen, Ninty.
