Throughout the Esports Awards evening, many influential people in the esports industry were recognized for the contributions and passion for the scene. These included photographers, journalists, coaches, teams, streamers, players, personalities and more. The Esports Awards are a way to celebrate the talent that helps make up the esports industry. The hard work and determination these people show enables the esports industry to continue to rise in quality and popularity each year (alongside the fans).
A number of players from a variety of games were celebrated. Among them, professional Call of Duty Player, Chris “Simp” Lehr took home the trophy for ‘Console Rookie of the Year’ and positions himself as one of the best young stars in professional Call of Duty.
Even though he was a rookie player throughout 2019, Simp is already considered one of the best in the world. He helped eUnited take home the first place trophy at the 2019 Call of Duty World League Championships where he earned MVP for his performance during the tournament. Heading into the beginning of the Call of Duty League, Simp was sure to secure a big spot with a championship caliber team.
Simp beat out a number of strong players for ‘Console Rookie of the Year’ including Aydan “Aydan” Conrad, Mohammed “Mo Auba” Harkous, Dylan “Dylan” Henderson, aBeZy and a handful of others. It’s hard to argue against Simp taking home the award as he was consistently one of the best Call of Duty players in the world. Simp will look to continue to carve out a legacy for himself in Atlanta next year when he takes the stage in the iconic red and black FaZe colors.
