Xbox Game Pass will soon be losing some great games, as Shadow of the Tomb Raider, Epic Mickey 2: The Power of Two, Pumped BMX Pro, RAGE, and The Jackbox Party Pack 2 will be leaving the service within the next few weeks.

Xbox Game Pass has been widely lauded as one of the best deals in gaming. There are many who call it the Netflix of gaming, as it gives instant access to hundreds of games for a low subscription cost. The rise of Game Pass has caused the competition to take notice, with Sony slashing the price of PS Now and the major mobile providers creating services like Apple Arcade and Google Play Pass.

The problem with Game Pass is that third-party games won’t stay on the service forever. This is the case with Shadow of the Tomb Raider, Epic Mickey 2: The Power of Two, Pumped BMX Pro, RAGE, and The Jackbox Party Pack 2, as they have been added to the “Leaving Soon” section in the Game Pass app. According to TrueAchievements, this means that they will be gone within the fortnight, as Microsoft generally doesn’t reveal the exact date when games depart Game Pass.

The removal of Shadow of the Tomb Raider is a big loss for Game Pass, as it ended the reboot Lara Croft trilogy with a bang. The game might not have won any awards for originality (at least in comparison to its predecessors), but it’s still an excellent title that was cruelly overlooked upon release, due to being buried alongside more high-profile games.

Game Pass is a great deal, but Microsoft can’t rest on its laurels. The service needs a steady influx of games to keep people interested. The drought of new titles on Stadia is putting doubts on the future of that service, so Microsoft should make sure that fans have enough new content to keep subscribing.
