The latest Nintendo Direct was held on September 4th and it was a doozy. The Direct featured surprising announcements for new games, some shocking shadow drops for titles that had avoided being leaked, and a lot of information on upcoming titles that had been announced in the past.

There were several announcements made during the Nintendo Direct that had been leaked through various means, but there was also a lot of fresh information that no one had managed to unearth before today.

These were the major announcements of the September 4th Nintendo Direct.

Overwatch Is Coming To Nintendo Switch (Pretend To Be Surprised)

The worst kept secret in the industry was confirmed - Overwatch is coming to the Nintendo Switch on October 15, 2019.

Luigi’s Mansion 3 Has A Gooigi Multiplayer Mode

Luigi’s Mansion 3 was revealed to have floors based on different themes, such as the Egyptian-themed Tomb Suites, the disco-themed Dance Hall, and a pirate-themed restaurant called The Spectral Catch.

The game also has a multiplayer mode called Scream Park, which allows up to eight players to battle on a single Nintendo Switch, with one team playing Luigis and one team playing Gooigis.

SNES Games Are Coming To Nintendo Switch Online

The Nintendo Switch Online service is about to receive a huge addition to its library, as twenty Super Nintendo games are coming tomorrow and more are on the way in the future.

The twenty launch games will be Brawl Brothers, Breath of Fire, Demon’s Crest, F-ZERO, Joe & Mac 2: Lost in the Tropics, Kirby’s Dream Course, Kirby’s Dream Land 3, Pilotwings, Star Fox, Stunt Race FX. Super E.D.F. Earth Defense Force, Super Ghouls ’n Ghosts, Super Mario Kart, Super Mario World, Super Mario World 2: Yoshi’s Island, Super Metroid, Super Puyo Puyo 2, Super Soccer, Super Tennis, and The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past.

It will also be possible for Nintendo Switch Online subscribers to buy Super Nintendo controllers for the Nintendo Switch for thirty dollars.

Banjo-Kazooie Arrives In Smash Today

Banjo-Kazooie is available to download in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate as of today, along with other new content that was detailed by Masahiro Sakurai after the Nintendo Direct.

Terry Bogard Is Coming To Super Smash Bros. Ultimate (Pretend To Be Surprised) & More DLC Characters Are Coming

The SNK rep in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate had already been leaked and it was revealed to be Terry Bogard from the Fatal Fury and The King of Fighters series. Terry will arrive in November.

It was also revealed that more DLC characters would be coming after the Fighters Pass, but the number of characters wasn’t announced.

Tokyo Mirage Sessions Is Coming To The Nintendo Switch

One of the last great Nintendo Wii U exclusives is coming to the Nintendo Switch. Tokyo Mirage Sessions #FE Encore will include at least one new song, but it still appears to be censored.

Tokyo Mirage Sessions #FE Encore will be released on January 17, 2020.

Doom 64 Is Finally Returning

The return of this game had been leaked via age ratings over the past few weeks, but it’s still great to see Doom 64 coming to Nintendo Switch, especially as it has never been ported to another system.

Doom 64 will be released on November 22.

Pokémon Camping & Curry

Pokémon Sword & Shield was given some time in the Nintendo Direct. It was confirmed that the character customization has been given more options, including gloves and makeup. There is a new mode called Pokémon Camp that allows the player to hang out with their team in a mode similar to Pokémon-Amie. It’s possible for players to cook curry and rice for their Pokémon, which is a reference to the popularity of curry in the UK.

There were some new Pokémon introduced during the Nintendo Direct as well, such as Polteageist, which is a ghost that lives in a teacup and lets people drink its body. There is also a Pokémon called Cramorant, which is a bird that can accidentally swallow a fish after using Dive or Surf. Cramorant can then spit the fish at the enemy if it takes damage.

New Tetris 99 Content

Tetris 99 is receiving a new mode called Tetris 99 Invictus, which can only be entered by elite players. The game will also receive daily missions, which will allow players to unlock custom themes based on different Nintendo games. Tetris 99 is receiving new paid DLC, such as a two-player mode on the same system and eight-player arena mode. The new content will be available in an update that launches tomorrow.

New Animal Crossing: New Horizons Content

Animal Crossing: New Horizons had its own segment during the Nintendo Direct which showed off some of the new features in the game, such as crafting mechanics, the Nook Miles currency that can be earned by completing tasks, and the multiplayer modes that allow four-player local play and eight-player online play.

New Additions To The Nintendo Switch’s Library

There is a new multiplayer free-to-start Kirby game called Super Kirby Clash that is available to download right now.

The first-person PC puzzle game called Return of the Obra Dinn is coming to the Nintendo Switch sometime in fall 2019.

The game known as Town is now called Little Town Hero and it was revealed that most of its music was composed by Toby Fox of Undertale fame. Little Town Hero will be released on October 16.

Deadly Premonition was a survival horror game that gained a cult following over the years and it’s coming to the Nintendo Switch today. The game will also be receiving a sequel in 2020 called Deadly Premonition 2: A Blessing in Disguise. 

One of the most surprising shadow drops during the direct was a Nintendo Switch port of Divinity: Original Sin II, which is available now with cross-save capability with the Steam version of the game.

A new multiplayer game called Rogue Company was announced, where the players take on the role of mercenaries with unique abilities. Rogue Company will be released in 2020.

Star Wars Jedi Knight II: Jedi Outcast was another surprise reveal during the Nintendo Direct, as it’s a remaster of a game from 2002. The game will be available on September 24.

Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag and Assassin’s Creed Rogue are coming to the Nintendo Switch in a collection called Assassin’s Creed: Rebel Collection on December 6.

Xenoblade Chronicles: Definitive Edition Is Really Feeling It

The last announcement made during the Nintendo Direct was for a Xenoblade Chronicles Definitive Edition, which is an HD remaster of the Nintendo Wii game that will include some new areas. Xenoblade Chronicles Definitive Edition is due to be released in 2020.

Sakurai Dropping Bombs

The Nintendo Direct was followed by a presentation hosted by Masahiro Sakurai that showed off Banjo-Kazooie in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate. It was during this presentation that Sakurai revealed that the Home-Run Contest was coming back to the game and that more Mii Fighter costumes would be available, one of which is based on Sans from Undertale that comes with a remixed version of “Megalovania.”
