A new leak about Ubisoft’s upcoming Assassin’s Creed game is making the rounds online. The latest leak stems from an anonymous 4chan post, as previous leaks have, so it should be taken as a rumor until proven otherwise. The leak shows what’s said to be a blurry off-screen photo of Assassin’s Creed Ragnarok, plus it provides a variety of previously unknown information about the game. Ubisoft’s next Assassin’s Creed game has not been officially announced, as of yet.
The image itself depicts what appears to be a female protagonist with long red hair holding a round shield in front of her. An enemy or NPC stands in front of her. It could be a knight, but the blur makes it difficult to discern their clothing/armor. There’s also a sign of either a sword or a hammer on the building in the background that could imply it’s a blacksmith. Otherwise, the Assassin’s Creed Ragnarok image shows some trees and what could be fencing.
The short description accompanying the image provides some further context. According to the post, this is a photo of Assassin’s Creed Ragnarok’s “female version of the protagonist.” That insinuates that Ragnarok will feature both a woman and a man for players to choose from. Her name is Jora. The setting is intended to be a huge map with large regions of both land and water, taking place around both Scandinavia and England.
Expanding further, the leak says that Assassin’s Creed Ragnarok is being developed by the same team that made Assassin’s Creed Origins. Gameplay, as a result, will be very similar to both Origins and Odyssey. The leaker also claims to know when Assassin’s Creed Ragnarok will be officially announced. It’ll be revealed on February 12 at an as-yet-unannounced PlayStation event. Assassin’s Creed Ragnarok will then be released in October later this year.
Given the source of the leak, this information should be considered unreliable until further confirmation is available. That the leaker provides a blurry photograph as evidence makes their claims very suspect. That said, their information does partly align with previous leaks. Ragnarok is often the referenced title of the game, though its codename is Assassin’s Creed Kingdom. And otherwise expectations point towards Ragnarok being quite similar to previous games.
Assassin’s Creed fans apparently won’t have to wait long to have these rumors confirmed. February 12 is less than a month away. Expect an update soon.
The next Assassin’s Creed game is confirmed for 2020 but has yet to be officially announced.
