Sony has confirmed that, after acquiring Nixxes Software, it will bring more PlayStation games to PC. Sony Interactive Entertainment president and CEO Jim Ryan gave an interview with Famitsu (via VG 24/7, in which he spoke about the acquisition. “We are also happy with our efforts to provide our IP to PCs,” he said. “And we look forward to working with Nixxes to help with that,” Ryan said. When Sony acquired Nixxes Software, Head of PlayStation Studios Hermen Hulst made the same point....

Splatoon 3 just got a serious deep dive thanks to this afternoon’s Nintendo Direct, revealing new levels, new weapons and an all-new approach to Splatfests that will introduce three-way fights into the series for the first time. Three-way fights come as part of the returning Splatfests, with matches during the special timed events being split into two halves, with the first part a traditional 4v4 face-off while the second sees a 4v2v2 fight for territory....

Good Sheperd Entertainment has announced that Bithell Games’ John Wick Hex will release on Oct 8. Going for $19.99, the XCOM-like title will have one-year exclusivity on the Epic Games Store when it releases next month. It will be available for PC and Mac. Stranger of Paradise brings a Final Fantasy spin-off adventure to players on PlayStation and Xbox consoles, as well as those playing on PC. Square Enix and Team Ninja have shown off more of upcoming spin-off Stranger of Paradise Final Fantasy Origin over the weekend during a Japanese livestream. Update: A fourth and fifth poster have now been released revealing that Stranger Things 4 will now release in two volumes. Streamlabs, the company that created a suite of software tools for content creators, has been accused of theft by an assortment of its rivals. Yesterday, Lightstream, a streaming studio used for console streaming, called out the company for plagiarism. Streamlabs had created a landing page for Streamlabs Studio, which was eerily similar to Lightstream’s own page. Since then, other software creators, ranging from OBS to Combo, have called out the company for stealing ideas....

Final Strike Games and Electronic Arts have launched their explosive rocket-fueled 3v3 hero shooter, Rocket Arena. The fast-paced shooter launches with a wide variety of arenas for players to experience, as well as a diverse roster of colorful characters. You can pick up Rocket Arena through Steam or Origin and enjoy cross-play support with consoles. At launch, players will have access to 10 unique characters with a total of 100 levels of progression....

Up until today, we were fully expecting Rockstar Games to bring their ‘A’ game to E3 along with all the other developers and publishers, but this no longer appears to be the case. Rockstar was set to showcase both Max Payne 3 and L.A. Noir at the Electronic Entertainment Expo in LA, two weeks from now, but have today announced that they are pulling out of the show entirely, and will instead be presenting the games “in the coming weeks”....

An investigative thinktank called Tax Watch UK has accused Rockstar Games, custodians of the Red Dead Redemption and Grand Theft Auto franchises, of committing tax avoidance in the UK. A lengthy report on the organization’s website points a finger at the Edinburgh-based Rockstar North and some suspect incorrect reporting of sales figures from their parent company, Take-Two. Tax Watch UK notes that the estimated operating profit of Rockstar between 2013 and 2019 totals a whopping $5 billion, as well as noting that £42 million in video games tax credits were claimed by Rockstar from the UK government between 2015 and 2017....

Although rogue-lites are generally very hit-or-miss with me, that was never much of a worry where Rogue Legacy 2 was concerned. The first game was not only the first action rogue-lite I’d ever played, but has remained one of my absolute favorites for years.
