At Gamescom Opening Night Live, Sega and Amplitude Studios presented their new game Humankind, a 4X title coming to PC next year. We knew Sega was revealing something new at Gamescom, but we didn’t expect the stylish announcement its game would receive. In its quirky trailer, a Neanderthal is playing an electronic piano in a steampunk-style satellite orbiting the Earth, and inside the capsule are other symbols of sophistication, like a flower, dice, and books....

Out of all the “WORLD PREMIERE” announcements that came out of The Game Awards last week, the one from Monolith Productions ranked as among the most surprising. The studio that brought us the two excellent Middle-earth: Shadow games has shifted its lidless eye to the DC Universe. Monolith and Warner Bros. Games have announced an open-world Wonder Woman game, and brought a teaser trailer along for your viewing pleasure. The Wonder Woman game certainly has Monolith’s fingerprint firmly planted....

At long last, the saga of Shovel Knight will come to an end. Developer Yacht Club Games has announced that the two final expansions for its retro-inspired platformer will be releasing next month. Coming to all platforms (minus the 3DS and Vita) on December 10, 2019, both King of Cards and Showdown will give players even more chances to engage with the wonderful world of shovelry. King of Cards is an expansion/sequel of sorts to the main Shovel Knight campaign....

Cem Bolukbasi, a 23-year-old Turkish racer who started his career in F1’s esport series, has just signed on for a full season in F2, the feeder series that supports motorsport’s top tier and has supplied the likes of Lando Norris, George Russell, Charles Leclerc and Lewis Hamilton. Bolukbasi took part in the 2017 and 2018 seasons of the official F1 esport series, which led to two seasons of real racing in GT4 and a successful switch to open wheel racing last year....

A SimCity Amusement Park expansion pack launched on 28 May through Origin as downloadable content. The DLC enhances the look and appeal of the city and provides “more things to do” - like running an Amusement Park - as a mayor.

Skyrim Special Edition will launch on Ocotber 28 supporting native 4K rendering on PS4 Pro, Bethesda has announced. “The new power of the PlayStation 4 Pro has allowed us to make Skyrim render in native 4k, and it looks better than ever,” explained the publisher. The PS4 Pro love will also be spread to Fallout 4, with an update set to be released at some point in the future. “We expect Fallout 4 to take advantage of the PS4 Pro in 4k along with enhanced lighting and graphics features,” added the Bethesda Blog post....

Sniper: Ghost Warrior Contracts features several loadout options and sniper rifle modifications. While many are available via the cash you obtain from missions, some will require various tokens. Contract tokens come from main objectives, challenge tokens come from completing challenges in maps, and intel tokens are from collectibles or bounties that you tackle. As such, you could end up spending tokens for weapons or gadgets that you won’t need. This loadout guide aims (pun intended) to help you make the ideal choices all throughout the game....

It appears that Tails won’t be the only new character turning up in the upcoming Sonic the Hedgehog 2 movie, as photos from the set seem to have revealed that Knuckles will be a part of the film too. The photos were taken by Twitter user Pursuit23 who sold them to showbiz website Just Jared, and were taken as production on the movie continued in Vancouver, Canada. The pictures in question include shots of human stars James Marsden and Tika Sumpter performing an action scene alongside what are believed to be prop models of Sonic, Tails and Knuckles that give the actors a physical presence to help their performance interactions and play off of before the CGI characters are added in post production later....

Paramount Pictures’ Sonic the Hedgehog movie adaptation has been a smash hit at the box office two weeks in a row, likely in part thanks to the Blue Blur’s huge fanbase going into his silver screen adventure. Those long-time fans have noticed the absence of Sonic’s Chaos Emeralds, a collectible featured as early as his 1991 introduction on the Sega Genesis, but director Jeff Fowler says that they were almost included in the film....

This time around we get the reveal of Quetzalcoatl, that has been part of the Shin Megami Tensei series since forever, including the recent Shin Megami Tensei V. As usual, we also get the daily horoscope with a ranking of signs from the luckiest to the unluckiest. Scorpio is at the top, while Acquarius is at the bottom of the fortune ranking....

Today Atlus released one of its daily trailers of the upcoming JRPG Soul Hackers 2, focusing on the demons that will appear in the game. This time around we get to see an old friend who was skipped in Shin Megami Tensei V, Kresnik, who originally debuted in Soul Hackers’ predecessor Devil Summoner. The trailer also includes the traditional daily horoscope, with Aries at the top of the fortune ranking and Aquarium at the bottom....

Yesterday’s Nintendo Direct featured all things Splatoon 3, and had plenty for returning players and newcomers to get excited about. People are especially hyped for Deep Cut, the new idol group that’ll act as hosts throughout the game. Comprised of members Shiver, Frye and Big Man, Nintendo showed off one of Deep Cut’s performances for Splatfest celebrations. Everyone is loving the combination of a scary lady wielding a fan, an idol whose forehead has been freed, and a manta ray....

When Spyro Reignited Trilogy was first announced, I was extremely excited. When it came to the PS4, I wanted to get it, but I was sure there would be a PC version coming out a year later, just like with Crash. The Crash trilogy remake was kind of problematic, as it altered some hitboxes and the falling speed in ways that made some already-tough games that much harder. So, did the Spyro games get better treatment and a good PC port?...

Today Star Citizen developer Cloud Imperium Games hosted CitizenCon 2952, and showcased a look at the content and features coming to the game with version alpha 4.0 and more We start with a work-in-progress look at the upcoming Pyro system presented by senior environment artist Maximilian Keilich. We start with planet Pyro 1, characterized by the fact that it gets consistently hit by solar flares. We then get to see Pyro 2, which is more colorful compared to the planet closest to the sun....

When the first episode of a new series called Star Trek aired on NBC-TV on September 8, 1966 (it had run two days earlier, on September 6, in Canada), it changed the course of both television and sci-fi history forever. Everybody assumed androids couldn’t do a mind meld, but what Picard presupposes is… maybe they can?...

A new update, released today for the SteamVR Beta, will improve performance for lower-end machines, Valve says. The update adds something called “motion smoothing,” which should allow weaker gaming rigs to run games at a higher fidelity, with much smoother frames. So, what is motion smoothing? According to some Valve, flat-screen TVs use this technique to create an “in-between frame”. This allows smoother transitioning from frame to frame, increasing framerate and adding latency....

Yesterday, Valve updated its SteamVR software, for use on VR headsets, and had some unusual content in the update notes. In the full list, the usual gamut of notes that you’d expect like bug fixes and quality of life improvements are detailed. But above all that, there’s a literal bug fix. For all you insect lovers. Creeping into pole position in the update notes are two 3D models of actual dead bugs that were found outside of the developer’s office....
