June will see Street Fighter 5’s biggest update yet, including Cinematic Story: A Shadow Falls, Capcom has confirmed. A Shadow Falls: The SFV Story Expansion is a 3-4 hour experience and will be released at the end of this month as free DLC to all SFV players. The 5 chapter story takes place between Street Fighter IV and Street Fighter III and bridges the events that happen in between the two stories....
Bit of a weird one this, but Capcom has announced that it is working with the Osaka Prefectural Police in Japan to allow the company’s Street Fighter characters to be used as mascots for the police force’s upcoming recruitment drive. According to the press release, the campaign is mainly focused around ‘boosting awareness of and the number of investigators specializing in cyber-crime’ specifically, with the announcement noting that crimes in that area have seen a conspicous rise of late....
To the surprise of many, Rocket League developers Psyonix announced in early October that it would be removing the game’s loot box system. Previously, Rocket League featured a “Crate” system in which players could spend real money on keys with which to open their Crate loot boxes. The new system, a Blueprint system that allowed players to buy specific items, went live this past week. Yet, despite widespread frustrations with loot boxes across the industry, Psyonix is actually facing calls to bring its loot boxes back....

The launch trailer for SIMULACRA 2 has landed just in time for Halloween. Set for a December 12 release, this trailer shows a revival of the “found phone” storytelling format that made its predecessors SIMULACRA and Sara is Missing stand out in the horror indie game scene. This latest sequel will be heading to PC, iOS, and Android when it does release. We previously reported that The Executioner was going to release on July 17, but the developer, Lesser Evil Games, has announced a delay. The game is now due to release on September 25. The announcement includes an all-new launch trailer, which you can see below. Sega has said it’s assessing player reports of glitches in Sonic Colours Ultimate for an upcoming patch for the Nintendo Switch version of the game. Though not officially set to launch until tomorrow, those with early access to the game via its Digital Deluxe Edition have reported several graphical bugs and glitches on Nintendo’s handheld. One such outlet—GameXplain—even put together a compilation of the worst glitches it encountered during its time with the game over the weekend....
Sony has confirmed that it is in the process of working on a fix for a reported PlayStation 4 ‘bricking’ issue that cropped up over the weekend. Speaking in a statement to IGN, the format holder revealed it is ‘planning a system software update to resolve this problem.’ However, writing on Twitter, the format holder clarified that the issue is in fact not bricking consoles, but rather sending them in a ‘crash loop....

Star Wars Battlefront is getting a Closed Alpha test on PC, EA has announced. Only a “small number of users” will be invited to give it a go, though.
