State of Decay 2 launched a few weeks back and wasn’t in the best of shape, but developer Undead Labs is attempting to polish things up with the release of what promises to be many updates for the zombie dismember-’em-up. Undead Labs chief Jeff Strain stressed that update 1.2 is ‘just the beginning,’ with the studio apparently having ‘big plans’ for State of Decay 2 going forward. Better make sure you have enough space though, as the patch weighs in at 20GB....

Galactic grand strategy title Stellaris drew in more revenue during its opening day than any game previously released by Paradox, including Cities Skylines, the publisher has announced. Concurrent players are said to have peaked at 68,000 on day one, too, higher than any previous Paradox game. But while the game may have drawn in more money, it hasn’t sold quite as many units as Paradox’s fastest-selling game, Cities Skylines. Cities Skylines managed to sell 250,000 units within its first 24 hours, with Stellaris coming in slightly lower at 200,000....
There’s been quite a bit of speculation surrounding the new Silent Hill game coming from Czech developers, Vatra Games. The big one came out around April when there was reason to believe the game might be turned into a first person shooter. It looks like that is not going to be the case however, now that Konami has released further information about the project at this year’s E3. To further fuel our excitement about the release, due out next year for PS3 and Xbox 360, we now have a cinematic trailer filled with enough enigmatic characters and creepy atmosphere to keep us biting our nails until September’s Tokyo Game Show, where Konami is expected to release more details on the project....
Indie hit Stray has been given a Game Boy-inspired makeover by some retro-loving animators. Youtube channel 64 Bits has released a demake video showing what Stray would look like if it had been released on a Game Boy. This includes textures and sounds, and to be honest, it looks great! The video itself offers a ‘highlight reel’ of Stray’s opening chapters. It shows the titular stray cat’s sudden separation from their clowder, and their descent into the chasm leading to an unpopulated underground city....

Rocksteady Studios co-founders and studio heads Sefton Hill and Jamie Walker are departing the company ahead of Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League. The duo announced the news in a lengthy message posted to the company website, where they also confirmed Nathan Burlow and Darius Sadeghian will fill their roles. “Rocksteady is very well-positioned with veteran studio leadership being elevated to oversee the team,” writes David Haddad, president of Warner Bros....

Metroid Prime developer Retro Studios is reportedly beavering away on a Star Fox racing spin-off game, according to numerous leaks originating from Reddit. Star Fox Grand Prix will apparently feature boss fights, a hub world to explore, and an adventure mode. The leak goes on to say that the racer will play something like an F-Zero game, another Ninty franchise that has been sadly MIA since the GameCube days. Not much else is known at this point, although Eurogamer has also corroborated the initial murmurs on Star Fox Grand Prix, so it sounds like it may have a good chance of actually happening....

Sega has confirmed that arcade racer Out Run is coming to Nintendo Switch in early 2019 as part of its Sega Ages series. Masterminded by Yu Suzuki, the legendary developer who worked on Hang-On, Virtua Fighter, and Shenmue among others, Out Run was originally released in arcades back in the late 1980s and became one of the best-selling games of its time. To be fair, you probably don’t need to be told about Out Run....
In a financial report from Kadokawa Corporation, From Software’s parent company, it confirmed that Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice has shipped almost four million copies to date (via Gematsu). The game sold two million units in the first 10 days after its launch, and it’s astounding that it has nearly doubled that statistic. Sekiro director Hidetaka Miyazaki said he’d like to try his hand at a battle royale game or a deep, narrative-driven experience in the future....

Now, someone has done the only thing left to do in Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice: add a mod that allows you to play as 2B from NieR: Automata. It’s something that won’t come as a shock to many though, considering the immense popularity that NieR: Automata has gathered since its release in 2017. Other companies should take note of this, as it was thanks to the free reign that Activision and FromSoftware gave end users when it came to modding their game....
