The second Street Fighter 6 closed beta test is set to run tomorrow, December 16th. The aim, Capcom stated in their blog, is to “monitor the play experience of participants, identify any potential issues, and then address them in order to improve the quality of the game”. This time around, there a few improvements. To start with, there is now an option to reduce input delay in the Graphics menu. Switching this on will reduce the gap between your inputs and the on-screen action....

Rockstar has acknowledged the enormous Grand Theft Auto 6 leak of work-in-progress development materials that took place over the weekend. In a statement published this afternoon on Twitter, as the company returned to work, Rockstar admitted it had suffered a “network intrusion” - a hack - from which the early development footage of GTA 6 had been taken. Rockstar said it hoped the hack would have no impact on its live services - such as GTA Online - and insisted the leak would not impact the development of the game long-term....

Roger Clark, the voice actor behind the main protagonist in Rockstar’s Red Dead Redemption 2, Arthur Morgan, recently revealed that during production he was asked to rerecord portions of Arthur’s dialogue after the recordings sounded just a bit too intimate. Specifically, the Rockstar team was referring to Clark’s dialogue recorded for when Arthur would speak to a female horse in the game. According to Clark, they told him, “It doesn’t really sound like you’re talking to a horse....

Today WayForward and Rooster Teeth had a new reveal to share about the upcoming RWBY action-adventure game RWBY Arrowfell. First of all, we get a release window, which is now fall 2022 for PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, Switch, & PC. The game features a canon story written by RWBY writers Kerry Shawcross, Miles Luna, and Eddy Rivas. We also get plenty of gameplay detail, which you can read below....

A remaster of Saints Row: The Third is on its way to PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One in May (via Polygon). Sperasoft is the studio behind the remaster of the highly-rated open-world action game, and the updated version will offer “retextured environments, character models and visual effects, enhanced graphics and a new lighting engine.” It will also add in remastered versions of its three expansion packs and its DLCs with the remaster of the base game....

Fans of the PSP-exclusive Half-Minute Hero will be pleased to hear that developer Xseed has announced Hero 30 Second, a sequel to the PlayStation Portable hit, coming to Japan November 4th 2010 (with no word yet on a US/EU release). Half-Minute Hero, for those unfamiliar with the title, follows the aptly named ‘Hero’, attempting to save the world in 30-second chunks. As with most Japanese RPGs, there is a massively overblown story involving Knights, Princesses, Goddesses and Evil Lords....

Sea of Thieves’ tides are a-turning once more, and next week’s Season 8 promises to be a bonanza for battle-hardened pirates, delivering an impressively exhaustive new “PvP on demand” system that, among other things, will see ships diving beneath the waves. Core to Season 8 is a new faction system, enabling players to sign up to either the Pirate Lord’s Guardians of Fortune or Flameheart’s Servants of the Flame using the new Hourglass of Fate found on the Captain’s Table of every ship....

Sea of Thieves season 8 kicks off on 22nd November. Developer Rare tweeted the news late yesterday, along with confirmation that a full reveal of what’s coming up will be streamed next Friday, 18th November, at 7pm UK time (4pm UTC, 8am PT / 11am ET). Hopefully we’ll find out more about the community’s decision in the current Adventure, Return of the Damned, too, alongside sneaky peeks about other new Adventures and Mysteries, the Plunder Pass, and usual bug and QoL fixes....

Serious Sam 4 is nearly here, almost a decade after the series’ third entry. To celebrate the road to release, developer Croteam and publisher Devolver Digital have started a countdown to launch video series. Episode one is now live, detailing what Croteam went through to create Serious Sam. Of course, there are also some welcome gameplay snippets thrown in there to tease Serious Sam 4 a little bit more. Chief Creative Officer at Croteam, Davor Hunski, spoke about the sacrifices made to create Serious Sam....

Eidos Montreal has cobbled together another brief Shadow of the Tomb Raider gameplay video, this time shining the spotlight on the various ways in which Lara Croft can brutally dispatch unsuspecting foes. Evidently, the experience of her past two trinket-pinching adventures have made Lara a more efficient killer who is just as comfortable at steathily slitting throats as she is capping people in the head. Shadow of the Tomb Raider is due out on PlayStation 4, PC, and Xbox One on September 14, so there’s not long left to wait for Lara’s defining outing....

It’s official: Shadowlands introduces World of Warcraft‘s first trans character. Content Warning: This article contains some serious Shadowlands spoilers. The character of Pelagos Pelagos is a character we meet in Bastion, an Aspirant who previously stood out as a character whom others would refer to using the pronouns they/them. While Pelagos presented as a woman in his mortal life, he chose to be a man in the Shadowlands. An important aspect of Bastion is that Aspirants choose a physical form to represent their true selves....

The long wait for Shenmue III is coming to an end and fans will soon have a chance to experience a brief snippet of Ryo’s next journey, as a demo for the game will be released in September. The Kickstarter for Shenmue 3 was announced during Sony’s conference at E3 2015 and it quickly broke all kinds of records, with the game earning over seven million dollars from backers. The development of Shenmue III has been a tumultuous one, with numerous delays pushing the game further back, while an Epic Games Store exclusivity deal has led to backers asking for their money back since Steam codes cannot be issued until after the previous deal has expired....

When Shenmue 3 originally came out, I was very fond of it. Honestly, it’s the best of the Shenmue games, offering better combat, more content, and the most believable world of any game in the series. But it’s also very dedicated to being a Shenmue game, which annoyed people who either didn’t like the other ones so much or whose nostalgia glasses kept them from remembering what the first two games were actually like....

Sega Europe has announced on Twitter that a patch for the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One versions of Shenmue I & II will roll out later this week. No details were given regarding what the patch actually does, although the Shenmue collection does suffer from a few notable issues on consoles, such as crashing, glitches in cutscenes, audio flubs, as well as bugs where certain events fail to trigger. Shenmue I & II was released on PS4, PC, and Xbox One on August 21, and went straight into the UK All Format Chart at number two....

Now, there’s no doubt that Super Smash Bros. Ultimate is one of Nintendo Switch’s must-own titles. Sony has responded to this week’s industry-shaking news that Microsoft is buying Call of Duty publisher Activision Blizzard, and said it expects Microsoft to “ensure Activision games are multiplatform”. The brief statement, issued to the Wall St Journal, is Sony’s first comment on the deal. “We expect that Microsoft will abide by contractual agreements and continue to ensure Activision games are multiplatform,” a Sony spokesperson said. PlayStation has long held a close relationship with Activision, and has had the marketing rights to Call of Duty for years....

South Park: The Stick of Truth, the superbly barmy and irreverent action RPG from Obsidian Entertainment, will be getting a standalone PS4 and Xbox One release next month. The game was previously only available on current generation consoles for pre-ordering South Park: The Fractured But Whole. However, you’ll now be able to snap up the game separately from February 13. Originally released on PS3, PC, and Xbox 360 in 2014, South Park: The Stick of Truth follows The New Kid (that’s you) as he settles into life in the eponymous town, only to find himself inexorably caught up a sprawling fantasy epic that sees the kids fighting to claim the Stick of Truth....

Square Enix president Yosuke Matsuda has published a letter in which he expresses hope that NFTs and blockchain technology will become a “major trend” in gaming. In a New Year’s letter, Matsuda expressed what he believes will be major areas of growth for the industry in 2022, including cloud gaming, AI, and blockchain games. The latter “are built upon the premise of a token economy and therefore hold the potential to enable self-sustaining game growth,” said Matsuda....

While The Clone Wars begins as a series about heroism and the good winning over the bad, it’s clear by season 7 (and if you watched Revenge of the Sith in 2005) that this story is actually a tragedy. And nothing about this war is as tragic as the clones themselves. They were genetically engineered for one purpose: to kill and die on the frontlines for their makers.
