Sea of Thieves’ sixth season of content might well be reaching its end point, but developer Rare still has a little something up is sleeve before Season 7 arrives, and it’s now inviting clue hunters to get stuck into a new “multi-channel narrative experience” it’s calling Mysteries. Mysteries were originally discussed back in January, when Rare laid out its plans for Sea of Thieves in 2022. The big gambit this year, if you’re unaware, is an ongoing, season-spanning narrative that will progress across monthly in-game story episodes known as Adventures....

While the previous trailer was focused on revealing planetary combat, this one is here to tell us that the closed alpha is hitting Steam on June 15th. Sega has announced that Sega Mega Drive Classics will launch for Nintendo Switch on December 6. The retro compilation was previously released on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, and will arrive on the Big N’s latest home console in both digital and retail flavours. The collection features over 50 games from Sega’s much-loved 16-bit console, including Altered Beast, Golden Axe, Sonic the Hedgehog, Streets of Rage, and Toejam & Earl....

He has made a living uncovering hidden gems in games like Dark Souls: namely, code that was once meant for the game but got buried before release. Recently, he has set his sights on Sekiro, and he’s already harvested some rather tasty bits....

Ubisoft’s upcoming pirate game Skull and Bones is “not a narrative-driven game”. That’s according to game director Ryan Barnard, who revealed to True Achievements that whilst it will have “narrative pieces”, focus on your player’s own story and has “an underlying story”, the adventure will not be “narrative-driven”. “Skull and Bones is not a narrative-driven game,” Barnard explains. “We have narrative pieces - in the game, you’ll meet important NPCs called Kingpins which have their own stories that you’ll learn as you develop rapport with them by taking on contracts with them....

It looks like some people really can’t handle the fact that Temtem is using inclusive pronouns to cater to transgender people. Temtem released on Steam early access on Monday as the Pokémon MMO that Nintendo refused to make. If you’ve ever played a Pokémon game, then you already know 90% of what’s going on in Temtem. There are TemCards instead of Poké Balls, a TemPedia instead of a PokéDex, and instead of a sleepy old professor who sends out into the world with absolutely no professional training to do dangerous research, you have a sleepy old professor who sends you out into the world without any professional training to perform dangerous research....

Sonic the Hedgehog has raced past $200 million at the worldwide box office. Sonic has been well received by fans, earning a 94% audience score on Rotten Tomatoes. At the moment, this favorable reception is translating to financial success as well. The movie made $58 million domestically during its opening weekend - the most from any video game movie to date. Sonic the Hedgehog has been receiving a lot of headlines lately, and for good reason....

With the next-generation of video game consoles set to launch in about a year’s time, much attention is being given to the PlayStation 5 and its controller. However, that doesn’t mean Sony is done innovating when it comes to the PS4. In fact, Sony has announced a brand new peripheral for the DualShock 4 that adds a couple of new buttons to the controller, which will be available on January 23 for $19....

Fighting game fans are puzzled as to why SoulCalibur 2 HD - still available to play via Xbox 360 backwards compatibility - has become unavailable to buy on Xbox via the Microsoft Store. The removal was spotted over the weekend by Jon Cartwright and appears to be recent (thanks, VG247). SoulCalibur for the OG Xbox has also been delisted, it was noted, although this seems to have happened some time ago....

Halo Infinite developer 343 Industries has indicated via a job listing that the upcoming first-person shooter will feature microtransactions. The developer has posted up an opening for an Online Experience Design Director, which will see the candidate ‘design and deliver AAA social experience that fosters community,’ in addition to providing a ‘AAA player investment experience’ that fuels gamers to ’express their passion’ for the series via microtransactions. While it didn’t go into any further detail about what sort of microtransactions will be present, it sounds a lot like they’ll be cosmetic-based....

Spider-Ham (real name Peter Porker) is on a hot streak right now. The porcine web-slinger made a big impression in last year’s Spider-Man: Into The Spider-Verse movie, before spinning out into a special Spider-Ham animated short, and now he’s got his own video game. Sort of. Inspired by the swinging mechanics from Insomniac’s Spider-Man game, a fan has created their own Spider-Ham game in Dreams. If you’re unfamiliar, Dreams is a game-making platform developed by Media Molecule....

Splatoon 3 is the third installment in the Splatoon series. While in the Splatlands, you will join forces either with fellow Inklings or Octolings depending on your choice. Although you can enjoy this multiplayer even on your own, having one or two of your friends will make you enjoy the game. Earlier today during the Lucasfilms portion of D23, it was announced that the second season of Star Wars The Bad Batch will come to Disney+ starting in January of 2023. This is a few months after the originally planned window of Fall 2022. To add insult to injury for fans of the series, no new trailers were shown off as a part of the new release date announcement. However, the additional months that the animators will get to work on the coming episodes will hopefully make the show look the best that it possibly can....

Today, Stardew Valley revealed in an official press release that the game has officially crossed the milestone of 20 million copies sold across all platforms since its original release. Alongside this news, it was also stated that 13 million of those came from the PC version of the game alone. Indie hit SteamWorld Dig is to release on Xbox One by late May, Image & Form Games has announced. The Xbox One version promises to include a number of tweaks to make the game “better overall”, along with an “elaborate Easter egg” developed specifically for the console. “We’re overjoyed by the fact that we’ll soon have our first Xbox release,” Image & Form said. “Xbox fans have been asking for quite a while and now we can finally let them get their hands on the game....

Fresh off the conclusion of the X Games collaboration, Rocket League will drop its next update on February 1. The patch notes say there are some new content and a few quality-of-life improvements coming with the update. The most notable things are the revamped Esports Shop and some welcome additional effects settings.
