Square Enix has announced that Final Fantasy XIII’s Snow Villiers will be making the jump to Dissidia Final Fantasy NT tomorrow. Villers will be the second character to migrate from Final Fantasy XIII to the PlayStation 4 fighting game, the other being protagonist Lightning. The floppy-haired combatant will be available as part of the game’s Season Pass or can be purchased separately. The character will also arrive with a bunch of items, including three costumes (Patron of Yusnaan I, II & III), three weapons (Crystal Guard, Ghastly Guard, and Sacrificial Guard), and special chat messages....

So yeah, it’s basically Top Gear in all but name, and one of the reasons why nobody watches the current Top Gear (other than it being, well, a bit crap). There’s also the promise of four-player splitscreen support, while Clarkson, Hammond, and May will be providing voice overs. Power-ups will also be a thing, apparently, so presumably it won’t be a super serious effort. The Grand Tour Game is in development for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, although a release date has yet to be announced....

It’s been nearly three decades since ActRaiser released to the Super Nintendo. The game blended the platformer and god game genres, tasking you to fight monsters and build a new civilization. Perhaps inspired by the old classic, publisher Sega has teamed up with ACE Team to create SolSeraph, which looks to be a spiritual successor for the game. Though ActRaiser‘s sequel focused mostly on platforming, SolSeraph takes most of its cues from the former game in the series....

The excitement elicited by the Nintendo Direct last night only continues come September 12th. The Tokyo Games Show, as so exemplified by Sony’s newly released lineup, will feature some heavy hitters and some surprise winners, as well. The event will be held in Chiba, Japan and span over a five day period, with the first two specifically for business and the final three days open to the public. While highly anticipated titles, such as Death Stranding and Cyberpunk 2077, will be in attendance, there are also plenty more surprises to come, such as Star Ocean on the Switch and even PlayStation VR’s Deemo Reborn....

Sony Santa Monica’s Cory Barlog has told fans to “hold tight” for more God of War: Ragnarok news in a new video message. The studio tweeted out the video to mark four years since the original game, 2018’s God of War, released. Barlog thanked fans for all their love and support over the years, but of course had to address the sequel elephant in the room. “We haven’t said a lot about this, that’s because everybody is heads down, hard at work....

Sony has issued a statement insisting that it is not profiting in any way from sales of the charity skin currently available in Overwatch. Blizzard Entertainment’s popular shooter is currently partnered with the Breast Cancer Research Foundation in an effort to help raise funds to combat the disease, with donations given through sales of the Pink Mercy skin. The outfit is available to purchase for £12.99 and will be sold until Monday, May 21 on PlayStation 4, PC, and Xbox One versions of Overwatch....

Today Atlus released a large gallery of screenshots of its upcoming JRPG Soul Hackers 2. We hear more about the story. Aion’s envoys Ringo and Fig have come to Earth to avoid the destruction of mankind. Two people are required to avoid said disaster, and each of the agents has to protect one. Fig’s target, Ichiro Honda, has already been killed by Iron Mask and Zenon who are looking after the mysterious energy entities named Covenant....

Nearly 30 years after Taito kicked off the Space Invaders franchise, they have brought it onto your console in a big way. Space Invaders Infinity Gene on PS3 and it may go down as one of the most enjoyable downloadable titles available. Infinity Gene takes the old school Space Invaders and adds a new twist....

Square Enix has been fairly quiet lately, with announcements about its latest projects being few and far between. However, a few new job postings might be hinting at what the company’s development team has in the works. The listings come from Square’s Osaka studio with the positions suggesting they’ll be working in “HD development” for the Kingdom Hearts series. The Osaka team has famously taken over as the main group behind some of the most recent Kingdom Hearts releases, including Dream Drop Distance, as well as the series’ most recent installment, Kingdom Hearts 3....

Square Enix has announced a new entry in the long running Star Ocean series, with Star Ocean: The Divine Force coming in 2022. The game promises to tell a “gripping story that seamlessly melds science fiction and fantasy elements” together. Once more we’ll be following the dual stories of two protagonists; one named Raymond and the other named Laeticia. Raymond’s the captain of the merchant vessel Ydas who’s described as confident, perhaps to a fault....

Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order has received a new patch, which has made changes to the game’s core mechanics—its combat and platforming. The patch notes state that the combat has been made a little more responsive, saying, “We’ve updated Cal so that he is more responsive during combat. This change includes tweaks to stagger reactions, kicks, flybacks, staff parry and sprint attacks.” This will come as good news to those who found the combat slightly subdued; it seemed to take inspiration from Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice, only it didn’t take enough at times, with parries—which should be the game’s bread and butter—seeming sluggish....

EA has pushed out a new patch for owners of Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order, offering up some visual enhancements for those playing the 2019 adventure on Xbox Series X|S and PlayStation 5 consoles. As per the patch notes, all consoles recieve a framerate upgrade, with the game going from 45 FPS to 60FPS on the new systems. Meanwhile, Xbox Series X owners can now choose to run the game in a Performance mode with the new framerate and a dynamic resolution in thee range of 1080p to 1440p or go for a Normal mode where postprocessing has been increased to 4K with a Dynamic Resolution range of 1512p to 2160p....

With Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order becoming such an overwhelming critical and commercial success, many of the game’s biggest fans began to reflect on one of the franchise’s other beloved titles, Star Wars: The Force Unleashed. Released in 2008, the title had some of the best action sequences in any Star Wars video game adaptation to date, with its complex physics system allowing players to toss around pretty much any item they could find in the environment at insane speeds using the force....

Games released onto Steam are making significantly less revenue this year compared to sales data from last year, as analysed by Mike Rose of publishing label No More Robots. No More Robots takes on services beyond publishing games, like Not Tonight and Hypnospace Outlaw, by ‘utilising wide-ranging video game sales figures and statistics to pin down exactly what makes games sell.’ As such, Rose has released his analysis of Steam sales data, and stressed that these conclusions are based on estimates....

Item creators on Steam Workshop have been paid over $57 million since the service launched late in 2011, Valve has announced. These creators have been producing items for Team Fortress 2, Dota 2, and Counter-Strike: Global Offensive. In celebration of Steam Workshop’s success, Steam content creators can now create and sell items for non-Valve games too. The first curated Workshops for non-Valve games are Dungeon Defenders: Eternity and Chivalry: Medieval Warfare....

Steel Assault is a retro-inspired 2D platformer that features fluid yet challenging gameplay that Metal Slug and Contra players should find familiar. The intense gameplay, paired with sharp graphics and incredible level design should make Steel Assault one of the most memorable games in the genre. Still, its extremely short completion time and lack of new content to explore after the first playthrough hold it back.
