Final Fantasy XIII, the long time coming PlayStation 3/Xbox 360 entry in the Final Fantasy series, ended up being a big disappoint for a whole lot of gamers. Though the game suffered from a lack of depth and a battle system that gamers were decidedly split on, the title did have some redeeming qualities, as detailed in Game Rant’s review. Not satisfied with the critical or commercial reception given to Final Fantasy XIII, Square Enix has announced that they are hard at work on Final Fantasy XIII-2, a very rare Final Fantasy sequel to a hardly spectacular game....

Final Fantasy publisher Square Enix has announced it will be offering a glimpse at its upcoming slate at E3 2018 with a dedicated showcase event. Those of you who remember the company’s last effort three years ago will be pleased to know that Square Enix has apparently learned from its mistakes. Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order pits protagonist Cal Kestis up against some pretty formidable foes, but few, if any, can match the intensity of Trilla Surduri, better known as the Second Sister. As the final boss of the galaxy-spanning campaign, she may give some unprepared players a run for their money. However, much like Taron Maiacos or the Ninth Sister, finishing the fight only requires some decent reflexes and a basic ability to recognize patterns....

Star Wars Resistance Episode 6 There won’t be many words for this review. “The Children from Tehar” is a fine episode, although it’s very limited in scope. We do learn a bit more about The Colossus, and there’s a slightly new shade to Kazuda, but beyond that, it’s not expansive or eye-opening or game-changing. I guess it’s more table-setting, but nothing really seems… informative?...

Ever since its release back in 2016, Stardew Valley has garnered an absolutely massive number of players, way more than solo developer Eric “ConcernedApe” Barone ever would have anticipated. Inspired by the Harvest Moon franchise, Stardew Valley appealed to players who wanted to become immersed in a virtual country lifestyle. In addition, it attracted Harvest Moon fans who felt disappointed by that series’ later entries. Now it looks like more people than ever will get to try the game out, as Barone announced on today’s [email protected] Showcase that Stardew Valley will come to Xbox Game Pass for PC....

My daughter’s recently started playing Mini Motorways. It’s delightful stuff, and it makes me see her afresh. It’s fun to come downstairs and see her positioned before the TV, rigid and serious, frowning at a seemingly intractable junction or off-ramp, before pouncing on the solution, her mind disappearing back into the emerging cityscape as she goes. This is how Mini Motorways is played. This is a city-building puzzler that may also be one of the most aesthetically refined games ever made: flat colour and pleasing abstractions of the modern world, its concrete and metal, its curtain-walling and internal combustion....

The Winter Olympics are not too far away now and Ubisoft is getting ready for the event with an open beta for Steep Road to the Olympics. The open beta will include five challenges from Steep Road to the Olympics and free roam in a select area of the Japan map. A further two Olympic events, Downhill and Big Air, will be available on the South Korean map. Finally, there are two snowboard and one wingsuit challenges in the Japan map....

Rory McIlroy PGA Tour will be available to download on EA Access next week, EA has announced. The golf game will be free to all subscribers from next Tuesday, May 10, offering complete access to the title for the duration of their subscription. Prey may have been out for almost a year, but that hasn’t stopped the rumour mill from churning this week pointing to the launch of downloadable content for the acclaimed shooter. First up, the game’s Twitter account (via PST) posted a cryptic gif just before the weekend, along with the caption ‘do we really know what’s out there?’ This has set tongues wagging, with folk assuming it pertains to the lunar colony featured in the main game, as well as Transtar Corp, the rivals of Kasma Corp....

The Vantage 2 by Scuf is the next evolution in their customizable controller line and after spending a week with this device I’ve discovered that I can no longer live without it. It isn’t the unique features that suddenly make it a necessity in my life. The extra buttons are certainly ergonomically pleasing, and the interchangeable sticks, triggers, buttons, and face plates are certainly a luxury. What makes the Vantage 2 greater than the sum of its parts though, is that, in a very short amount of time, this controller has become my controller....
