Star Wars: Battlefront will feature a King of the Hill-style mode called Drop Zone, an 8v8 game of Rebel vs Empire in which the objective is to capture and control drop pods which fall from the sky. Once a drop pod is located teams must make their way to it and trigger the short claim process. To win a team must capture five pods, or control a majority when the 10-minute match comes to an end....

Neil Peart, drummer and lyricist for the Canadian rock band Rush, died in Santa Monica, Calif., according to Variety. He was 67. Sega has said that it wants high review scores for Sonic Frontiers, the upcoming open-world Sonic the Hedgehog game. During an investor Q&A (via VGC), Sega Sammy’s CEO Haruki Satomi and CFO Koichi Fukazawa spoke about review scores: “We have set internal targets, as the correlation between the scores of external evaluation organizations and sales is high in Europe and North America. “If the game gets a high score, it can become a must-buy game, and possibly generate synergy with sales, so we are currently working hard to improve the quality of the game toward its sales for the holiday season....

Skull & Bones has been rated by the ERSB, leading some to hope that a release date may be imminent. Sony has introduced a new account verification system on PSN. Similar to Twitter’s verified accounts, PSN verification aims to authenticate the accounts of individuals who work in the video games industry, including selected game developers, producers, designers and community managers. Unfortunately there isn’t any way to ‘apply’ for verification, with Sony choosing which accounts to verify themselves. Those selected will be verified with a tick placed beside their PSN ID.
