Sea of Thieves has hit a major milestone with ten million players dipping their toes in the nautical multiplayer adventure since its launch (via Xbox Achievements). Developer Rare held out on making a video game about swashbuckling sea dogs for ages. Back in the 1990s, the piratical Project Dream was a concept of theirs that turned into Banjo-Kazooie, but there were undercurrents that the company weren’t landlubbers in truth, and kept their eyes on that horizon....

Earlier today, a press release from Sega of America revealed a new partnership with Neamedia Icons. Neamedia currently has a collection of Sonic the Hedgehog statues available for pre-order. You may also know Neamedia from their Pac-Man, Bomberman, and Naruto Shippuden statues. The statues are each 13 centimeters tall — slightly over five inches — and will feature the blue hedgehog in his classic art style. Here is what Sega has to say about these statues:...

Today Sega released its Integrated Report 2022 and it included plenty of interesting details about the developer and publisher’s plans and business. First of all, we hear from CEO Haruki Satomi, who states that his goal is to make Sega Sammy’s Japan’s number one entertainment company, able to release products that truly represent the country. Satomi-san goes on to explain that one strategy to generate the kind of titles he’s talking about is the creation of the previously-mentioned Super Game....

For those who don’t know, Phantasy Star Online 2, or PSO 2 at it’s colloquially called, will be free to play at launch. However, that doesn’t mean you can’t already spend money on Sega’s anticipated online ARPG. Earlier today, the company revealed the Sonic the Hedgehog Founders Pack for the game. It’s chock full of Sonic-themed goodies, ranging from outfits to accessories and more. And it’ll all cost the full-game price of $59....

Sega has unveiled Sonic 2020, a promotional move that promises artwork produced by fans and original Sonic artists and Sonic-related news on the 20th day of every month of 2020 (via Twinfinite). In addition, we’re also being treated to Sonic-themed events set throughout the year, and this is all in anticipation of the blue blur’s 30th birthday in 2021. Today, Sega Japan published wallpapers and icons of characters in the Sonic series, which are downloadable for use on social media, PCs, and phone backgrounds....

September’s PS Plus Essential games will be Need for Speed Heat, Toem, and Granblue Fantasy Versus. That’s according to reliable source Dealabs, who routinely leaks the games in advance. Need for Speed Heat was the 2019 entry to the series and the last to be developed by Ghost Games before being handed back to original developer Criterion. Shadow Complex Remastered is now available on Xbox One priced £11.99, ChAIR Entertainment has announced. The original released for Xbox Live Arcade in 2009. The game will launch on PS4 and Steam in May. Players of the remaster will benefit from high definition characters, enemies, environments and interface. There’s also updated lighting, post-processing, and visual effects. New contextual melee take-downs. The recent leaks regarding a definitive version of Shadow of the Tomb Raider that included all of the DLC were legit, as Shadow of the Tomb Raider: Definitive Edition has been announced by Square Enix and will be launched next month. Shadow of the Tomb Raider is the third game in the reboot of the Tomb Raider franchise. It follows Lara’s adventures across Central America, as she searches for the lost city of Paititi....

Shiny Pokémon are essentially rare collector’s items and quite frankly, nothing more. The term “Shiny Pokémon” first originated amongst fans. It was adopted to reference the shimmering sound effect and animation at the start of one of these trophy encounters. Fancy entrances aside, the only difference between a shiny and the usual run of the mill Pokémon is its color variation. Google Play Pass, a new subscription service that offers premium mobile games for a monthly fee, has been garnering mixed reviews since it launched a few weeks ago. While the service definitely offers up several great games and apps, it has been overshadowed by the more popular Apple Arcade and developers who worry they won’t make much money from the service. Play Pass features no exclusive games, contains several duplicate titles, and — like all subscription services — you lose the games once you stop paying for the service....

Ubisoft’s troubled pirate-themed game Skull and Bones has been delayed out of this year and will now make port next March. This is only the latest in a long series of delays for the game, which has had reported issues such as mismanagement and workplace toxicity. Ubisoft finally revealed the game with trailers and a release date earlier in the year. Unfortunately for you swashbucklers, you’ll have to wait a bit longer....

The 3.0 update for Super Smash Bros. Ultimate has finally arrived and it has brought new content in the form of Joker from Persona 5 and the Stage Builder mode. The new update has also brought a slew of changes to the game, some of which are quite surprising. PREVIOUSLY: Winners And Losers Of The 2.0.0 Patch The overpowered moves that fans have been complaining about since launch have all gone untouched, which means that the player will have to endure Inkling’s Splat Roller, Ganon’s sword, and Ivysaur’s ridiculous spore aerials for a little longer....

Earlier today, Sega revealed the first edition of Speed Strats: a Sonic Origins video series that takes a closer look at the remaster set for release later this month. The presentation focuses on the different modes and additional features available for each title and can be viewed below. Each platformer will be playable in either Classic and Anniversary mode. Both options include fully remastered visuals, but Classic presents them in the original 4:3 aspect ratio while Anniversary mode offers full widescreen support....

Sony Interactive Entertainment has confirmed that PlayStation Now will be rolling out to additional European territories this year. The cloud-based service is already available in the UK, Germany, France, Belgium, Netherlands, Switzerland, Austria, Luxemburg, and Ireland. However, Spain, Italy, Portugal, Norway, Denmark, Finland, and Sweden will soon get in on the action. Sony will kick off a PS Now beta in early February for these territories, although it’s limited to PlayStation 4 for the time being....
