Recently Overwatch League announced that Overwatch’s new hero, Sigma, would be available to play during the season playoffs. At this point, players in the Overwatch League should be used to the meta shifting at key parts during the season. Last year, the meta shifted to double sniper right before the season playoffs started, which allowed for the Philadelphia Fusion and London Spitfire to make amazing runs to the finals. Other heroes have made immediate impacts in the league, such as Baptiste and Brigitt, so the inclusion of Sigma will be interesting to see....

Smite, the Gods-based MOBA currently available for PC and Xbox One, has now been confirmed for PS4 with an alpha test beginning today, Hi-Rez Studios has announced. Smite features over 70 playable gods and mythological creatures, all battling for domination across six game modes. A closed beta will begin in early March, with PS4 gamers invited to sign up to take part now. When the game launches it will remain completely free-to-play, offering instant access to all game modes, Smite’s five free gods (Ymir, Thor, Neith, Guan Yu and Ra) and any gods currently available in the free rotation....

Update, August 31: Sega has issued a fix to Sonic Mania which allows the game to be played offline, it addressed the issues that had been the cause of consternation, tears and fury. Which is nice. Sega also said that, ‘the fix is now being tested by SEGA QA to ensure it is working properly and we’ll let you know when it will be implemented via our social channels ASAP. We’ve looked into the DRM complaints and can confirm this was not the cause of the problem....

A more powerful PlayStation 4 with support for 4K media and games is to launch this autumn, developer sources have reportedly told Kotaku. PS4.5 will allegedly feature a more powerful graphics card to support 4K gaming and provide additional processing to beef up PlayStation VR titles. Though developers are referring to the new console as PS4.5, it’s unknown if this is a nickname or something more official. One dev also called the updated system PS4K....

Today Atlus released not one, but two trailers for its upcoming JRPG Soul Hackers 2, showing one of its playable characters and a demon. The first trailer goes in-depth in introducing Saizo, another among the party of playable characters we’ll use in the game. This one has English subtitles, so do make sure to activate them. Upcoming intergalatic dogfighting shooter Star Wars: Squadrons has released a new CG mini-movie in the run-up to the game’s launch created in collaboration with developers EA Motive, LucasFilm and acclaimed Hollywood effects studio Industrial Light and Magic. The short, entitled “Hunted” is set before the events of the upcoming game, introducing us to Squadron Leader Varko Grey as he finds himself as the last TIE pilot on the battlefield, being hunted a dogged New Republic X-Wing....

The Siege of Mandalore is in full swing. Ahsoka Tano and Maul (formerly Darth) face off in one of the series’ (and possibly the saga’s) best lightsaber battles. Meanwhile, the Mandalorians find themselves caught in the middle, herded to “safety” by a Republic which is beginning to look increasingly authoritarian. The DC comic-book series Stargirl will soon have its final bow on The CW, as, according to The Hollywood Reporter, the Greg Berlanti series will end its run on Dec. 7. The news comes after The CW was sold to station group Nexstar earlier this year. Stargirl stars Brec Bassinger as high school student Courtney Whitmore, aka Stargirl, a character who’s based on comic book creator Geoff Johns’ real-life sister. When she one day discovers a cosmic staff once wielded by the superhero Starman, this mild-mannered girl becomes the inspiration for a new group of heroes who form the second incarnation of the Justice Society of America....

Steam sales always tend to sneak up on us. We can be going about our business, and getting on with life when, BAM! It’s time for another Steam sale. The second Street Fighter 5 beta test will run between October 22-25 on PS4, Capcom has announced. In the beta players will initially get to play with Ken, Necalli, Vega and R.Mika. Rashid will be added to the roster on Day 2, with Karin appearing on Day 3. The characters from the first beta will not feature in the beta. This beta will help test fight money unlockables, meaning players have the chance to unlock titles and the Kanzuki Estate stage....

The first concert I ever saw was KISS during their Destroyer tour. My parents had seen some clips of them on the TV and were scared to death. Recently, MMORPG RuneScape suffered from the biggest server issue in its 20-year history. Many players found themselves locked out of their accounts for over a month as developer Jagex worked non-stop to fix things. Now that these accounts have been successfully restored, Jagex is running a new RuneScape event to celebrate, Awesome April. Throughout the month of April, all RuneScape players will be able to take advantage of certain perks and bonuses....

After its initial announcement at RuneFest last year, the new Archeology skill will be making its way to RuneScape on March 30. The release date comes from the official RuneScape site from Jagex. According to the developers, players will have to use a mattock and their knowledge to solve some of the “biggest mysteries of Gielinor’s past.” As part of the skill, players will be excavating various artifacts, restoring them, and gaining their powers in return....
