It isn’t just the members of AVALANCHE who have received a makeover in Final Fantasy VII Remake, as Shiva’s appearance has been totally overhauled for the game, with new screenshots offering a closer look at her redesign. Final Fantasy VII was known for its lengthy summon monster sequences, to the point where spells like Knights of the Round reached memetic status for taking so long to complete, even though it ran for less than ninety seconds....

It’s been a while since we’ve heard anything about Skate 4. The game was first announced back in June 2020, with another update from EA in 2021. But we haven’t heard too much about its development since then. However, some leaked gameplay of Skate 4 in a pre-alpha state has been making the rounds. Jeff Grubb was one of the first to share the footage on Twitter, with the original source being taken down soon after....

Excited players of Skyrim’s Anniversary Edition have been left feeling frustrated with a new issue that results in the appearance of a black screen when the game crashes. This issue has left players puzzled, as the in-game ambient music continues to play in the background despite the blank screen. Sonic Frontiers, you’ve probably already noticed, didn’t look too hot upon its proper reveal earlier this month. With gameplay demos that were rough around the edges and an open world that was strikingly sparse, there’s the hope that a first chance to play it might turn things around but first impressions really aren’t promising. Shakily running on a PC at a low resolution that doesn’t do the visuals any favours, the button prompts for the tutorial are incorrectly labelled and there’s almost a sense of polite embarrassment from the Sega representatives manning the booth, not helped by the car crash quality that drew small crowds when the rough demo was first fired up at Summer Games Fest....

Foul-mouthed RPG South Park: The Stick of Truth is coming to Nintendo Switch as a digital download, Ubisoft confirmed overnight during its Q1 sales press blurb. No exact release date was given, but the publishing behemoth did confirm that Cartman and chums’ original adventure will be arriving at any point between July and September. It’s probably not all that surprising to see The Stick of Truth coming to Ninty’s hybrid platform, as South Park: The Fractured But Whole was released on the console earlier this year....

Square Enix have officially acknowledged that a third Tomb Raider title in the rebooted series exists, and will be coming out. Their twitter announcement is a bit unusual, and worth looking over a little closer. Previous leaks have suggested that a third game from Crystal Dynamics is on the way, dubbed Shadow of the Tomb Raider (though that could be a working title). Today’s word from Square Enix basically confirms that, albeit not the name....

For fans of the animated series, it’s been 12 years since Ahsoka Tano first walked onto the screen and into a long war that would engulf most of the galaxy. That’s 12 years to bond with Jedi who will inevitably lose everything they hold dear, but also more than a decade of some of the best action scenes the Star Wars franchise has ever produced....

Disney may not have settled its Star Wars movie plans as of yet, but it’s eager to push ahead with the franchise’s ambitious TV slate. The Mandalorian season 2, an Obi-Wan series, and a Cassian Andor show are all in the works at the studio, and now Disney chairman Bob Iger has teased that The Mandalorian might get its own spinoff series. Iger made the comment while speaking to investors at a quarterly earnings meeting (via Variety), saying the company is exploring “the possibility of infusing [The Mandalorian] with more characters and taking those characters in their own direction in terms of series....

Star Wars Battlefront 2 will release in late 2017, EA has confirmed. Speaking during the publisher’s Q2 earnings call last night, CFO Blake Jorgensen explained that EA has “the next Battlefront coming a year from now”, along with a new Star Wars action game potentially due before April 2018. That’s almost certainly Visceral’s new game, although Titanfall developer Respawn also has a Star Wars title in development, too. EA actually confirmed that a new Star Wars Battlefront game is coming next year back in May, but this is the first sign we’ve had of a more specific release window....

After a year of lengthy, but steadily diminishing, queues to purchase a Steam Deck, Valve has announced its impressive handheld gaming PC is now available without a reservation. Since last July, Valve has been using a reservation system for Steam Deck orders that first required purchasers to pay a small, deductible sum to join the reservations queue then wait for an invite to make a final purchase. For some time, the wait between the two steps was upward of several months, but the gap has been steadily narrowing as Steam Deck production began to outperform Valve’s estimates....

Kadokawa Games has released a brand new trailer of the upcoming mecha strategy JRPG Relayer. The trailer focuses on introducing the game’s rich cast of characters and also reveals the theme song “In to the Lost Chord” performed by KOCHO. You can check it out below. Relayer releases tomorrow for PS5 and PS4. You can already read our review. Last week, NetherRealm Studios opened some eyes with the announcement trailer for Mortal Kombat 11: Aftermath. The ultra-violent fighting game will update with a new storyline campaign, Friendships, Stage Fatalities, and three new characters. Sheeva the Shokan Queen and Fujin the God of Wind are fairly interesting if you’re familiar with Mortal Kombat, but the big news is the inclusion of RoboCop. RoboCop is just the latest of the many intriguing guest characters who have joined the Mortal Kombat roster through DLC....

Sega has continued its ongoing ‘What is Shenmue?’ video series, with Ryo Hazuki voice actor Cory Marshall taking us through a look at the game’s combat and mini-games. Shenmue places a strong emphasis on combat, where Ryo will learn techniques by reading move scrolls and learning them from various martial artists he meets. You can practice your moves in the park or dojo, which is where Ryo sometimes utters his infamous ’let’s get sweaty’ line....

Despite the title screen in a little video you may have seen yesterday, Sonic Team is not the developer behind the forthcoming Sonic The Hedgehog 4. That honor falls to Japanese developer Dimps. Don’t know their name? Well, you certainly know some of their games. Dimps co-developed last year’s awesome Street Fighter 4, a game so good it practically reignited the fighting genre all by itself. Dimps is also the studio behind the swell Sonic Rush games on DS....

Shenmue: The Animation released earlier this year with a run of 13 episodes. And by all rights, it seemed to be a success for those involved. However, in a twist of fate that feels strangely appropriate for the series, Shenmue: The Animation has seemingly been canceled. This means that, yet again, a story in the Shenmue universe will remain unfinished. The first inkling that Shenmue: The Animation would no longer continue was from a tweet via @CNschedules on Twitter....

Developer Yacht Club Games has posted a developer blog detailing the future of Shovel Knight Dig. The spin-off of the popular 2014 platformer was originally anticipated for 2021, but this is no longer the case. Shovel Knight Dig won’t release until 2022 in order to give the developer more time to work on it. On the bright side, Yacht Club Games states that “development is going great,” so franchise fans shouldn’t be overly concerned....
