Soul Calibur VI has added another familiar face to its ever-expanding lineup in the shape of the blade-wielding Mitsurugi. The swordsman’s return probably isn’t all that of a shocker. After all, Mitsurugi appeared in the original Soul Blade back in 1996 and has gone on to become a series staple and fan-favourite. Not having him in a Soul Calibur game would be akin to Paul Phoenix not appearing in the next Tekken....
Today Atlus released another daily trailer of its upcoming JRPG Soul Hackers 2, focusing on one of the locations that will be featured in the game. This time around we go back to the Pizza Restaurant called “Bon Appetite” where you can find the “Critical Boscaiola” pizza, which I imagine is a pizza with Mushroom that can boost your Critical. As usual, the trailer also includes a daily horoscope displaying Libra at the top of the fortune ranking, and Capricorn at the bottom....
Spelunky 2 is an excellent, but brutal game for even the most experienced of players. Every level is filled with randomly generated enemy spawns, items, and layouts that make back-to-back consistent runs extremely hard to achieve. Thankfully, developer Mossmouth thought this over. During the year-long celebration of SpongeBob SquarePants’ milestone 20th anniversary, the voice cast has paid tribute to the series’ late creator, Stephen Hillenburg. In our feature on the anniversary, the cast spoke eloquently about Hillenburg as the heart and soul of SpongeBob, even though he stepped away from daily work as showrunner on the series in 2004. When we caught up with the voice of SpongeBob, Tom Kenny, and co-executive producer Marc Ceccarelli at San Diego Comic-Con, they further detailed Hillenburg’s involvement with the show and upcoming feature film; Hillenburg continued to provide feedback up until he passed away at the age of 57 in November 2018 after a long battle with ALS....

EA has announced that Respawn Entertainment’s Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order is coming to EA Play on November 10. It joins the subscription service as it merges with Xbox Game Pass, at least for console players. If you’re currently an EA Play subscriber on PC though, you can still go hands on with the game in five days. In regards to PC Game Pass integration, Microsoft has yet to announce when EA Play titles will be included....
Activision has announced that the first DLC for blockbuster first-person shooter Modern Warfare 2 will be titled Stimulus Package. The publisher also confirmed the earlier revealed March 30 release date on Xbox 360. Dates for other platforms have not been announced. That’s pretty much all we’ve got on the Stimulus Package for the moment – it’ll feature new maps, but how many and at what cost remains a mystery. In the build up to the DLC’s March 30 launch, a Multiplayer Unlock event on Xbox LIVE is scheduled to take place from March 12 through March 15....

Psyonix and Epic Games have announced that Rocket League loot crates will be removed in favour of a new system showing players exactly what’s contained within the in-game item (via IGN). On the official Rocket League blog, the new system (that was first mentioned in August) has been communicated in detail. Instead of crates, blueprints will be awarded after the end of Rocket League matches, and like their predecessor, they can come with special attributes like Painted, Certified, and Special Editions....
Rocksteady Studios have been pretty tight-lipped since finishing off the Batman series, and even apologised for missing E3 last year. Alas, it looks like it’ll be missing another one, according to a tweet from one of its co-founders. Sefton Hill tweeted out in response to fans asking if the British studio would be taking the trip up to LA this year, saying that Rocksteady won’t be at the show and instead ‘watching as fans but remaining in London’....
Samurai Punk may not be a household name as far as game studios go, but you’ve likely at least heard of some of their games. Most notably, the studio is known for Screencheat, a multiplayer game in which players have to look at other players’ screens - lovingly referred to as “screen watching” - to know exactly where they are and where to shoot. Samurai Punk (which sounds like a game title in and of itself) returns with Roombo: First Blood, a simple, light-hearted home defense game that features hilarious, over-the-top gore....
For months now, rumors have been swirling that Sony plans on hosting a special PlayStation 5 reveal event in February, where it will show off its next-generation console and highlight some of its games. Saints Row: The Third launched on the Nintendo Switch last week, in a version called the Full Package edition. Unfortunately, it came with some performance issues, like frame-rate drops and button input lag. Now, publisher Deep Silver has said that it plans to patch the game in order to address the issues. In a statement on the game’s official page, Deep Silver said, ‘Some of you have experienced some more unusual issues which we need to look at a little more deeply....

With the Scott Pilgrim Vs. The World movie coming in August, Ubisoft is giving fans the opportunity to battle through Ramona’s seven evil exes with the upcoming Scott Pilgrim vs. The World side-scrolling beat ’em up game. The gameplay trailer revealed at E3 created quite the positive buzz for the game, which takes it’s style straight from the comic book. Loosely following the plot of the graphic novels, up to four players can play as Scott Pilgrim, Ramona Flowers, Kim Pine or Stephen Stills, who must battle through several levels in order to defeat Ramona’s seven evil exes....
The Nintendo 3DS isn’t quite dead yet, as the system was due to receive a new game in the form of Silver Falls - 3 Down Stars on December 26. However, the horror title has been delayed to technical issues involving the Nintendo eShop. Silver Falls - 3 Down Stars is a survival horror game for the New Nintendo 2DS and 3DS inspired by the horror games of the ’90s. The game is set in the town of Silver Falls, where the residents have been frozen in time following a visit by UFOs....
Rebellion, the studio behind Sniper Elite 4 and Zombie Army Trilogy, have been showing gameplay of their new third-person shooter Strange Brigade. In an interview with Geoff Keighley, head of creative Tim Jones and head of marketing Robbie Cook discussed the game’s inspiration, story and showed off some gameplay. Taking its cues from B-movies and ‘early morning, Saturday matinees’, Strange Brigade is touted as a fun, co-operative shooter based around mythical themes from the early 20th Century....
Sonic the Hedgehog has run rings around Detective Pikachu, and became the highest-grossing video game movie of all time in the United States (via GameSpot). The blue blur has raked in $145.8 million in the U.S., outpacing Detective Pikachu’s profits of $144.1 million. It also leaves Resident Evil: Afterlife and Resident Evil: The Final Chapter in the dust, yet its postponed premiere in China and Japan has stymied its success, and there’s a long way to go before Sonic steals the crown from World of Warcraft....
It has been a rough Spring for Sony and Sony gamers, and despite recent reports there is still is no definitive end in sight for the PSN outage. A seemingly bright patch Sunday–the announcement from Sony’s Shigenori Yoshida that PSN services would return by May 31–has now been denied as being an overly optimistic interpretation of Yoshida’s (and Sony’s) hopes that the service will be restored sometime in May. Subtle differences, but considering the uncertainty around the stolen data during the April 20 hack of Sony servers, or even who was actually responsible, we can’t blame Sony for being unwilling to commit to a return date....
