Shovel Knight Dig is a joint venture between Nitrome and Yacht Club Games that has been in development for around a year. The story begins when Drill Knight steals all of Shovel Knight’s loot and descends into the earth. Shovel Knight must take up his trusty weapon and follow Drill Knight into the ground....

Eric Lempel, PlayStation’s worldwide head of marketing, has said that Sony intends to notify fans well in advance whenever they decide to open PlayStation 5 pre-orders. “So I think it’s safe to say, we’ll let you know when pre-orders will happen,” says Lempel in an interview with Geoff Keighley. “It’s not going to happen with a minute’s notice. We’re going to at some point let you know when you can pre-order a PlayStation 5 so please don’t feel like you have to go run and line up anywhere until you receive official notice on how that will work....

Sony does not expect its next-generation PlayStation to arrive until at least 2027, a confidential document has suggested. The partially-redacted document was released publicly today as part of the UK’s ongoing in-depth Competition and Markets Authority review into Microsoft’s proposed $68bn Activision Blizzard buyout - a deal Sony has strongly objected to. Today Atlus released its new daily trailer of the upcoming JRPG Soul Hackers 2, focusing on one of the demons included in the game. This time around the trailer shows Loki, who has been around pretty much forever in the Shin Megami Tensei. His looks are similar to what we have seen in the original Soul Hackers. As usual, we also get the daily horoscope, with Virgo at the top of the fortune ranking, while Cancer is at the bottom....

Insomniac Games has released a dazzling new batch of web-slinging screenshots for its upcoming PlayStation 4 Spider-Man game, offering a first look at Big Bad’s Shocker and Norman Osborn (via PST). There’s also some action shots of the titular hero doing his thing throughout the game’s lush open-world New York City, although still images don’t really do justice to the superhero’s dexterous parkour-fuelled city surfing. Still, it looks bloody nice, and will most probably give God of War a run for its money in the visual department....

It seems that Facebook has signed a deal with Ubisoft to produce VR-exclusive versions of games of the latter’s most popular series, with Assassin’s Creed and Splinter Cell being mentioned by name. That’s according to a report from The Information which is behind a subscription, but the top half was posted in a tweet from famous games-award-show-haver Geoff Keighley, which reveals that Facebook is looking to bolster its portfolio of games for the company’s Oculus VR headsets....

Splitgate’s beta season two is now live on PC, Xbox, and PlayStation. The new season of the free-to-play portal-hopping shooter brings a number of updates, including three new game modes and a remastered Abyss map. That’s on top of revamped matchmaking as part of a migration to a new server, which means getting into matches quicker, fewer bots, and more similarly-skilled opponents.
