Team Ninja and Square Enix have dropped a gameplay explanation trailer for the upcoming Stranger of Paradise Final Fantasy Origin. Coming shortly after Tuesday’s ‘final’ trailer, this one focuses less on the story and more on gameplay. You’ll take the role of Jack Garland, and find out just how he became the epic RPG series’ first villain. He’s joined by pals Jed, Ash, Neon and Sophia and they’re out to bring peace back to the kingdom of Cornelia....

With Capcom partnering up with Sony on the release of Street Fighter V and the re-release of Ultra Street Fighter IV on PS4, Xbox One owners have been without a way to play Street Fighter on their system. Thankfully, a new backwards compatibility update has enabled Street Fighter IV to be playable on Xbox One. Jagex, the UK-based developer behind the MMO hit Runescape, has been acquired by The Carlyle Group. This marks the third time that Jagex has been acquired by another company. It was first bought in 2016 by Hongtou, a Chinese investment company. Jagex was then sold in May 2020 to Macarthur Fortune Holding. However, the Carlyle Group may be the largest owner that Jagex has found itself under. The Carlyle Group is one of the world’s largest global investment firms, managing a whopping $230 billion USD of assets....

Today Microsoft and Rare revealed the content and features coming with the upcoming Season 8 of the popular game-as-a-service title Sea of Thief. In Shenmue 3, players continue Ryo Hazuki’s quest to find his father’s killer. Picking up where the prequel left off over a decade ago, the newest entry takes the search for Lan Di to China in the 1980s. While moving through the game’s different settings, Ryo can explore towns, interact with people, and undertake a variety of tasks to advance the plot. However, there are also side activities which are optional, reward money, and can immerse the player in the world....

The Shenmue III Kickstarter and Slacker Backer campaigns have helped the project raise seven million dollars, developer Ys Net has announced. As a result of the new milestone, Shenmue III will now see an expanded battle system introduced as well as the Toy Capsule Box Set. Shenmue III’s initial Kickstarter launched in June 2015 at Sony’s E3 presser, and closed with $6.3 million raised. Sony is cancelling digital pre-orders for Gran Turismo Sport, according to a report by racing specialists Team VVV. The site claims that players who pre-ordered the game via PlayStation Store are receiving messages informing them of the cancellation following last week’s decision to delay the racer into 2017. “On 30th August 2016 we regrettably announced that the release of Gran Turismo Sport has been delayed until 2017,” the message allegedly states....

The Federal Trade Commission (FTC) is launching a probe into Sony’s recent $3.6 billion acquisition of Bungie. Back in January, Sony announced that it was acquiring Bungie. The studio that created Halo and put Xbox on the map. The FTC is investigating the buyout, as is standard practice with deals such as this. According to a report by The Information, the investigation centres on exclusivity. There is a chance that it may delay the closing date of the deal....
