Beat-em-up Samurai Shodown will be getting its third Season Pass in mid-March of this year, adding even more fighters to the game’s ever-expanding roster. The first two characters revealed so far are Cham Cham from Samurai Shodown II, younger sister of Tam Tam and brings along her oversized boomerang as her weapon of choice. She’ll be available from March. Later on, she’ll be joined by Hibiki Takane, a guest fighter from fellow SNK series The Last Blade 2, and she’ll be available later in 2021....

Developers will have the option to release 4K updates for existing Xbox One games running on Project Scorpio, Xbox chief Phil Spencer has said, and the console may offer a more consistent image quality to games that currently implement a dynamic resolution. Highlighting Halo 5: Guardians as a title that could benefit from Scorpio’s additional power, Spencer explained to GamesIndustry.biz that Xbox One games that use a dynamic resolution will “effectively… run at its maximum resolution the whole time”....

Rare has launched a new update for PC and Xbox One plunder-’em-up Sea of Thieves, with update 1.0.2 applying some key changes for the action-adventure title. Chiefly, the developer has been poking and prodding with ship respawn time, so that vessels now return from Davy Jones’ Locker out of sight from the ship that put them beneath the waves. The change comes from user feedback observing instances of stalemates at forts and ‘griefing’ behaviour....

Microsoft has signed up The Lord of the Rings actor Sean Astin to front its latest Sea of Thieves marketing campaign, with The Goonies star featuring as an asthmatic pirate museum curator in a new trailer for the high-seas adventure game. It’s not hard to see why Astin was considered a ‘perfect fit’ for the role, as he’s clearly having a blast hamming it up as the wannabe pirate who sought ‘fame, fortune, scurvy’ but was sadly held back by his asthma....

SEGA has partnered with Rovio to bring the Angry Birds to Sonic Dash. Over the course of the next three weeks, players can unlock Red, Chuck and Bomb as playable characters for use within the endless runner by collecting special Angry Birds Epic tokens. Alternatively, the birds are available to purchase using a premium currency. Once the birds are unlocked they’re yours to keep forever, but you’ve only got three weeks from today to unlock them....

The wait is over. Ryo Hazuki’s hunt for his father’s killer is back on! As of today, Shenmue III is finally available, continuing the saga that began so long ago on the Sega Dreamcast. Produced by the legendary Yu Suzuki and YS Net, the game features a number of activities, puzzles, and more. And, of course, it sees protagonist Ryo continue on his quest at long last. Blizzard has announced the next hero to enter the chaotic and colourful universe of Overwatch and it is an astrophysicist named Sigma. Voiced by Boris Hiestand, Sigma is a Dutch scientist who spent his career investigating the manipulative gravity-bending powers of black holes. Despite his brilliant intelligence and countless calculations, not everything went as expected in an experiment out in space, as shown in his origin story. He now seems to split and struggle with two selves, not unlike a Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde situation....

Icelandic post-rock band Sigur Rós will feature on the soundtrack to Hyper Games’ Moomin game Snufkin: Melody of Moominvalley. Described as a “musical adventure game”, the character Snufkin is tasked with restoring harmony to Moominvalley after a series of grotesque parks appear and upset the balance of nature. The soundtrack will include tracks from the Sigur Rós album (), as well as arrangements from composer and sound designer Oda Tilset....

Widely considered one of the founders of the survival-horror genre, Silent Hill is infamous for its intricate stories that are packed with symbolism and frustratingly difficult puzzles. It looks like fans of The Walking Dead can breathe a sigh of relief. Even though Telltale Games may have folded, partners have stepped in to see The Walking Dead: The Final Season reach its conclusion. That studio is Skybound Entertainment, helmed by none other than Robert Kirkman himself. Kirkman is, of course, the creator of the long-running zombie apocalypse comic book series. Ever since Nick Fury appeared in the after-credits scene of Iron Man, various movies have attempted to jump-start their own cinematic universes with this method. The after-credits scene has become an expected mainstay of comic book movies, with many theatergoers now trained to stay in their seats through the entire credits just in case there’s something extra at the end. Milady is one of the playable characters in the game, and today’s trailer lets us know her a little better, on top of seeing her in action. Dramatic Labs’ upcoming Star Trek game was first announced in December 2021. At the time, Dramatic Labs revealed that it would release in Spring 2022. Obviously, this didn’t happen, as it was then pushed back to sometime in 2022. Today, Dramatic Labs has confirmed that Star Trek Resurgence is being delayed once again, this time to April 2023. In an announcement tweet, Dramatic Labs details why the delay is necessary. It states that production has been advancing throughout the summer, but development still needs more time....
