The physical games market is dying, which has directly lead to the fall of companies like GameStop. However, digital games have always had the downside of users not being able to resell them, keeping some players from ever purchasing them. But, a new ruling in France has determined that Valve must let Steam users resell their games, potentially opening the floodgates for digital redistribution. The ruling was handed down by the Paris Regional Court after nearly three years of proceedings....

Steam’s 2019 Winter Sale kicked off this week, ringing in the holiday season with markdowns on thousands of titles on Valve’s ubiquitous PC gaming platform. The vast majority of games available on the Steam Store are marked down anywhere from 10% to 90% off, and the discounts are valid until January 2, 2020 at 1 p.m. EST. Berlin-based developer Paintbucket Games, which includes members of the Spec Ops: The Line dev team, have announced their new game Through the Darkest of Times. Through the Darkest of Times will have players taking on the role of leader of a resistance group shortly after Hitler has taken power. Players will have to recruit new resistance members, aid persecuted individuals and weaken Hitler’s power. Paintbucket is basing the game on actual historical events and resistance fighters from that period....

The Rock Band Network has allowed small time and independent artists to bring their music to a large scale audience since March of last year, and since that time Rock Band itself has evolved with the release of Rock Band 3. To keep up with these changes, the Network will be officially upgrading from version 1 to version 2 on February 15, 2011. What this means is that song creators who have music in progress for Rock Band Network must finish up by February 14, the day before the switch occurs....

Rockstar Games co-founder Dan Houser has revealed during a chat with Vulture that development of Red Dead Redemption 2 has seen the team putting in ‘100-hour weeks.’ Unsurprisingly, Houser said that in comparison to previous Rockstar titles, Red Dead Redemption 2 ranked as ’the hardest’ yet. ‘We were working 100-hour weeks’ multiple times this year, he revealed. ‘We’ve poured everything we have into [Red Dead Redemption 2]. We have really pushed ourselves as hard as we can,’ added Sam Houser....

After teasing it at CES 2021, Intel is reportedly set to unleash its brand new Alder Lake CPU lineup with a September release date in mind. The rumor comes via hardware site Uniko’s Hardware, which posted a tweet on January 23 that claimed the “12th Series CPU” is set to launch alongside “600 chipset motherboards” as well. Launching first in the desktop ‘S’ format. Intel’s Alder Lake processors will feature a new socket, the aforementioned new chipset, support for DDR5 memory, and an upgrade to PCIe 5....

SEGA is investigating ways to re-release Shenmue and Shenmue 2 on modern-day platforms, according to a new report. Stadia has been out for almost a year now and Google continues to improve and add new titles to the cloud gaming service. Hotshot Racing, a new racing game from Lucky Mountain Games and Sumo Digital, will arrive on Xbox One, PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch, and PC this spring. It looks like it’s been lifted from the ‘90s with sleek polygonal visuals and boost-fuelled drift gameplay. Sniper Elite VR marks the series’ first foray into virtual reality platforms. It was announced last year, and we went hands on with the game earlier this year at PAX East 2020. Back then, it was announced for Oculus VR, Steam VR and PSVR, and now developer Rebellion has broadened its available platforms. Sniper Elite VR will now also launch on Oculus Quest, Oculus’ untethered VR platform. SNK 40th Anniversary Collection will be sprinkling a majestic glow of nostalgia over Nintendo Switch owners when it launches for the hybrid console on November 13.
