Rejoice, all you wacky car-soccer players, Rocket League now supports cross play for all platforms. Yes, this means Sony has given developer Psyonix the nod to allow PlayStation 4 owners to team up or compete against players on Xbox One, Switch, and PC. “Today’s announcement is an important one for us here at Psyonix, because we know how much our community has wanted FULL cross-platform support for quite some time,” wrote Jeremy Dunham at the game’s official blog....

Yesterday, news broke that some PlayStation 3 systems were overheating and shutting down while playing Rockstar’s just-released LA Noire. Posts on the Rockstar Games support website made absolutely clear that the company considered PlayStation 3 firmware update 3.61 responsible for the problem. Today, Rockstar and Sony have issued a joint statement on the situation. Though Rockstar seems to have considerably softened its stance on firmware 3.61, the two companies have apparently been unable to find – or, perhaps, agree on – the root of the problem....

Deep Silver is planning to make a “major announcement” at E3 2016, CEO Klemens Kundratitz has confirmed, prompting speculation about what the publisher could have plans to reveal. Rare has detailed what to expect from nautical multiplayer playground Sea of Thieves when it transitions into a new Seasons-based update system starting with Season One later this week. As previously established, each Season will offer pirates approximately three months of new features, events updates and a new progression and reward track. Reputation with the various trading companies will still remain as will the Pirate Legend system, but you’ll also be able to earn a new metric knowns as Renown....

Diablo III‘s Season 17 went live over the weekend. In their official patch notes, Blizzard states that they made it a high priority to respond to long-standing requests from the Diablo III community. Chief among those requests is the addition of three new Torment levels (14-16). This means more loot and more experience for players who have progressed to the highest difficulty levels. Players can also expect higher drop rates for Greater Rift Keys at the newly added Torment 14, 15, and 16....

Insomniac has announced Song of the Deep, a metroidvania-style action adventure game following a young girl’s quest to find her missing father. The game was announced alongside the trailer below and is coming this summer to PS4, Xbox One and PC. Brian Hastings, chief creative officer at Insomniac Games explains more about the game over on the Xbox Wire blog, and how the game’s protagonist Merryn has a heroism which comes from inside, “one who was only heroic because of her character”....

Sony has confirmed that more PlayStation 5 consoles will be heading to retailers before the end of the year, following “unprecedented” demand for the new hardware. In a statement via Twitter, the company thanked gamers for making the recent launch of the next-generation console PlayStation’s “biggest console launch” ever, and told fans to stay in touch with their local retailers to best be kept in the loop about when they’ll be able to get hold of more units of the system....

Atlus has released another trailer revealing one of the demons that will be included in the upcoming JRPG Soul Hackers 2. This trailer showcased Inanna, a demon inspired by the Great Mother Goddess of Mesopotamian mythology deity of love, war, fertility, games, and the morning star. She definitely has what you’d call a “motherly” figure, and she also appeared in the recent Shin Megami Tensei V. Like in most daily trailers, Atlus also provided a daily horoscope, which sees Virgo at the top of the fortune ranking and Libra at the bottom....

Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse has released its first official teaser trailer, showcasing that the Spider-Verse will be growing exponentially in the new animated film. While the original film only featured a few different Spider-Verse characters, including Spider-Gwen, Spider-Man Noir, and Spider-Ham, the sequel is looking to include a plethora of cameos, which seemingly include Spider-Man Unlimited, the Bombastic Bag-Man version, and even the PS4 version of the web-slinger. The trailer also features a better look at the film’s returning main characters, which include Miles Morales, his mom Rio, Gwen Stacy, Peter B....

About two months ago, Square Enix gave us a nice surprise in the form of Live A Live, a remake of the classic game that was first released back in 1994. Fast forward 24 years, and the remake will soon launch on the Nintendo Switch this coming July 22. In anticipation of the return of Live A Live, Square Enix has seen fit to release two new trailers that cover two different time periods in the game....

Square Enix has released some screenshots of the upcoming remake of Final Fantasy XII. Final Fantasy XII: The Zodiac Age was originally released on PlayStation 2 back in 2006, and was a pretty revolutionary entry in the series introducing open world zones, and a revamped battle system. The Zodiac Age is a HD remaster of the previously Japan-only International Zodiac Job System edition that was out a year after the game’s initial launch....

Although life is often unpredictable, some aspects of it will forever remain constant. We all grow up, we all eventually end up in the dirt, and Star Citizen will never come out. This project, which began production all the way back in 2011 and earned over $400 million in crowdfunding, has become more of a meme than an actual video game thanks to its perpetual vaporware status. The same applies to Squadron 42, a single-player game set in Star Citizen’s universe originally meant to come bundled with its companion title before splitting off....

The loot box debate rages on and it’s been taken up by the state of Hawaii which held a press conference addressing Star Wars Battlefront 2 today. Democrat representative Chris Lee took to the podium specifically singling out Star Wars Battlefront 2 which he described as an “online casino specifically designed to lure kids into spending money.” He brilliantly added, “It’s a trap!” Lee said they needed to “protect kids who are underage, not psychologically or emotionally mature enough to be able to gamble which is why gambling is prohibited under 21....

EA has confirmed that Star Wars Battlefront II’s improved air combat will be shown at Gamescom, including a live gameplay debut of the Starfighter Assault mode. In a post on it’s blog, EA said that ‘Teams will face off in a swirling dogfight in the Fondor: Imperial Shipyard map, weaving around an Imperial Star Destroyer complete with speedy fighters, thundering bombers, distinct hero ships, and more’. Starfighter Assault is a twenty-four player game mode that centres around aerial combat in space, this mode is played across all three cinematic eras in the Star Wars timeline....

While Starbreeze Studio’s new CEO, Mikael Nermark, would not reveal any real info about the studio’s Project RedLime for EA, he did say it is the biggest project the studio has ever worked on. While Starbreeze might not be the largest studio around, its past projects like Riddick and The Darkness were certainly fun and showed how capable the studio is. Some rumors have suggested that Project Redlime is in fact a Syndicate remake....

The legal battle over Star Control is turning into a knock-down, drag out fight. The issue involves a dispute over Stardock’s Star Control: Origins, which released last September for PCs, and the original creators of Star Control II, Fred Ford and Paul Reiche III. Star Control II aside, the latter are best known for their work on the Skylanders franchise. The dispute between these two parties has been developing throughout most of 2018, and things recently took quite a turn....
