You can determine if a memory stick is single-rank or duel by checking the information sticker it carries. Single-rank memory is identified by 1Rx along with the amount of memory in gigabytes (e.g. Rx8/1Rx8/1Rx16). On a RAM module label, you’ll see dual-rank RAM denoted as 2Rx, followed by the amount of memory in gigabytes (2Rx4 or 2Rx8)....

Sega has officially announced that Sonic Mania will be out on PC, PS4, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch, on August 15. This confirms what was spotted on the game’s Steam page at the tail-end of last week. Sonic Mania will retail at £14.99/$19.99/€19.99, but if you get your pre-order in now, you can get a 10% discount on the modern day Mega Drive title. Originally slated for a March release but delayed to allow for more development time, Sonic Mania is the brainchild of PagodaWest Games and Headcannon who have ported classic Hedgehog games to various platforms....

Sony seems to be culling another one of its systems by ending production of the 500GB PS3 in Japan; the last variant of the system that was still being actively produced. This marks the end of an eleven-year production cycle for the PS3 system. Sony had initially announced that production on the 500GB PS3 would be coming to an end back in March of this year, and it appears they’re making good on their promise....

The release of Final Fantasy VII Remake has been pushed back to April 10, 2020, so that Square Enix is able to deliver “the best possible experience” to new and veteran players (via Gematsu). Square Enix is undertaking a total remake of the original Final Fantasy VII from 1997. The mechanics and its graphics have been overhauled to bring them into the new decade, and new designs for familiar faces injects animation and dynamism to their comparatively chonky predecessors....

Square Enix president Yosuke Matsuda has detailed how he expects the game developer and publisher will capitalise on blockchain technology in a new interview. Matsuda intimated that traditional game development, especially in the domestic Japanese market, is now “not enough” for the company, adding that he wants to “utilise the power of [autonomous game content] to create games that will continue to evolve” and use blockchain tech to incentivise any such user generated content....
