Multiple sources are now suggesting that a reboot of the Silent Hill series is currently in the works and has been for some time now. Konami (which owns the series) and Sony are supposedly working together on the project, in addition to several returning members of the original Silent Hill production team. This reboot is also said to be the result of Konami hearing pitches from many different developers in addition to Sony, which did happen, so if this new Silent Hill rumor is true then Sony apparently won the bidding war....

Solar Opposites, a new animated offering from Rick and Morty creative duo Justin Roiland and Mike McMahan, is headed to Hulu, set to showcase the story of a family of advanced extraterrestrials who have been forced to take refuge on a planet in the backwater part of the galaxy, called Earth, specifically in suburban middle America. Today Atlus released the usual daily trailer for its upcoming JRPG Soul Hackers 2, showing one of its demons. The latest update to Elden Ring makes a number of significant changes, but speedrunners in particular will see a big impact. Through balancing of sorceries and abilities, a couple of abilities widely used in speedrunning have been nerfed, which will force speedrunners to reconsider their strategies. Soon after the update was released, Distortion2 - responsible for the first sub-half hour time - tweeted “Rip Elden Ring Speedruns”. LilAggy, who posted the first speedrun time of two and a half hours, told Eurogamer “the latest patch has definitely changed things for the speedrun quite a bit”....

The third of four universes to be experienced in the upcoming Spider-Man: Shattered Dimensions video game has been revealed. Spider-Man 2099, alter-ego Miguel O’Hara, and the Marvel 2099 universe will be featured in the game. Marvel 2099 was started in 1992 to explore one possible future of the Marvel Universe. The futuristic world and its friendly neighborhood web-slinger can be seen in the newest Shattered Dimensions trailer. A 2099 version of the Hobgoblin is seen as an enemy in this dimension....

During Ubisoft’s financial conference call for investors and analysts, chief financial officer Frédérick Duguet announced that Ubisoft has canceled a few games that were in development. The game was revealed at the end of 2021, with the closed beta then delayed following a rather negative reaction from the community. On top of that, two more unannounced games have been canceled, but we know nothing about those. We also heard that the company intends to “stabilize its headcount” by the end of the current fiscal year ( March 2023) back to levels of the previous fiscal year....

I was able to see a lot of features during my demo with Shadow of the Tomb Raider. I was able to see some of the gunplay, stealth combat, and Mexican culture within the game. And right before the end of the demo, I watched a kid die. At the very end of the hands-on demo for Shadow of the Tomb Raider, a giant flash flood tears through the city where Lara Croft is attempting to escape....

Square Enix is going to release Star Ocean: The Divine Force and Valkyrie Elysium in the fall and Japan is getting fancy Collector’s Editions. Both games have Square Enix e-Store Collector’s Editions that we likely aren’t getting in the west, and two trailers have been released showing them off. Star Ocean: The Divine Force‘s edition will be priced at 18,000 yen (approximately $135) and will include the game, an 80-page artbook, a 5-CD soundtrack, two rubber keychains, an art card with its stand, a special box, and a bunch of digital goodies....

The biggest name in sports gaming, EA Sports, will bask in the love of some of the biggest names in the NFL during its annual tournament, Madden Bowl XVII.
