Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment has released a new trailer for Middle-earth: Shadow of War introducing a new DLC character. The character is Forthog the Orc-Slayer and he’s been created to honoured the memory of Middle-earth: Shadow of War’s executive producer, Mike ‘Forthog’ Forgey, who passed away during the development of the game. Michael Forgey passed away in 2016 after a year long battle with a rare form of cancer known as glioblastoma....

Ys Net has polished off a lovely pair of new Shenmue III screenshots for you to gawk at. Okay, so it’s only two images, but they look pretty nice and offer a glimpse at how the game’s visuals are shaping up. Needless to say, it’s come a long way from those early shots from E3 four years ago, and even manages to shake off those dodgy mannequin eyes to boot. The Super NES Classic Edition recently hit a major sales milestone, selling 4 million units worldwide. The figure was confirmed in Nintendo’s recently published financial results briefing, and completely eclipses the previous NES Mini’s sales. It seems that Nintendo has learned their lesson from the debacle that was the NES Mini. When the original mini console was announced in 2016, stores couldn’t keep them in stock. Resellers were purchasing the console and then selling them on eBay for ten times what they retailed in stores....

Sony is beginning to make a more active push into the mobile games market, as the company has just announced their acquisition of Savage Game Studios, a mobile-focused developing studios that has produced on-the-go shooter experiences. Savage CEO Michail Katkoff goes on to explain that while their plan had always been to remain as a relatively small-sized and nimble studio so they could retain their freedom to experiment, the acquisition by Sony makes sense as they share this vision and aren’t risk-averse either:...

Team Ico’s ten-years-in-the-making puzzle platformer, The Last Guardian, has had its price cut from $60 to $40 in the US. Speaking with a Sony rep, GameSpot confirmed that this price drop is a permanent one. While pre-orders were higher than expected, the spirtual successor to Shadow of the Collosus only charted at number seven in its first week, leading many to believe that the game’s hype hadn’t translated into sales, after all....

Sony has removed a PS4 ad after being accused of major plagiarism. The ad, which was released in Japan, starred several major PS4 games such as EA’s soccer sim FIFA 20, Hideo Kojima’s new game Death Stranding, and the Final Fantasy 7 Remake. Last week, Sony Interactive Entertainment Japan Asia released a musical PS4 ad but the video was quickly criticized by the animation site Catsuka, which spotted several animations that seemed to be plagiarized by other forms of media....

Bandai Namco Entertainment has announced that Korean swordsman Hwang will be the final Season Pass 2 character coming to SoulCalibur VI later thsi week. Hwang’s one of the old guard of the long-running beat-em-up’s cast, first appearing in the second version of the original Soul Edge back in 1995. He’s made sporadic appearances in the series since, last showing up as an unlockable character in 2005’s SoulCalibur 3. Following the release of Hwang, the next, and likely final piece of DLC for the game will come in the form of Character Creation Set F: a new set of costume parts based on characters from the other popular Bandai Namco fighting series—Tekken....

Breakout shooter success Splitgate will finally roll out its big Beta Season 1 update next Thursday, 27th January. In a press release today, developer 1047 Games detailed several major additions due at that point, including a custom map creator and a new 100-level battle pass. Two fresh game modes will also be added to the mix: Evolution, an offering that buffs losing team loadouts for the next round, and One Flag Capture-the-Flag, which is fairly self-explanatory....

State of Mind, the science-fiction thriller from Daedalic Entertainment, will launch on PlayStation 4, PC, Nintendo Switch, and Xbox One in August. The game features a pretty unqiue aestheitc, combining highly detailed and futuristic environments with low-polygon character models. State of Mind takes place in Berlin in the year 2048, where the world is in a bit of a state (isn’t it always? Seriously, how about a pretend future that doesn’t suck?...

Halo Infinite isn’t in the Top 10 of most-played Steam games. In fact, at a little more than six months old - and its fan-favourite multiplayer component entirely free-to-play and available on Steam - Halo Infinite doesn’t even breach the top 50 games that boast the highest concurrent player numbers. Or the top 100. At the time of writing, Halo Infinite ranks as the 286th “top game” according to Steam Charts....

Rocket League players on Linux or Mac are in for a rude awakening soon. Developer Psyonix has announced that the sports/racer will be dropping support for the two operating systems in its next update. Citing a push for “adapting to use new technologies,” the studio will be moving the game solely to Windows as it continues to develop and support the title. Surprisingly, even SteamOS support is getting dropped. What this means is that players using those operating systems will lose the ability to play online....
