Today Cloud Imperium Games had a couple of reveals to make about its growing space simulator Star Citizen. First of all, the Invictus Launch Week for this year has been announced, and it will happen between May 20 and May 31. To temper expectations for those unfamiliar with the event, it has nothing to do with the “launch” of the game. It’s an in-lore holiday celebrating the military fleet. This year it’s labeled “2952” because that’s the current year in the in-game calendar....

CIG has been keeping Star Citizen Squadron 42 under wraps for a long time and this is the first slice of footage (on IGN) from the single-player campaign we’ve seen for ages. Don’t get too excited though, this appears to be some kind of a cutscene featuring Mark Hamill as Old Man Colton. Tomorrow we are hoping for a little more than this, some gameplay would be most welcome because this little trailer tells us nothing about the game or how it will actually look....

Droids is a tragically forgotten piece of Star Wars culture. Taking into account that the show has basically been disowned, in part because it’s incredibly dated, this cartoon about two droids wandering around desert planets getting into trouble isn’t likely to get the acclaim it deserves anytime soon. Which is funny. Droids happens to be an influential relic from the younger days of a rapidly growing multimedia franchise that didn’t know what to do with itself....

With the Steam Deck set to release in February, Valve has been releasing blog posts and updates to keep users apprised of upcoming features that they can expect from Steam itself in the coming weeks. One of the new features detailed in a recent update is the Dynamic Cloud Sync feature, which improves upon Steam’s existing save data sync feature even further. With Dynamic Cloud Sync, “Steam will automatically upload all modified save game data to the cloud prior to the device entering sleep mode....

Following a couple of morse code teases earlier this week, SteamWorld developer Thunderful Games has announced it’ll be revealing “what’s next for the series” in a special video showcase scheduled to air on Monday, 23rd January. To date, Thunderful has released five, radically different instalments in the celebrated SteamWorld series: SteamWorld Tower Defense, SteamWorld Dig 1 & 2, SteamWorld Heist, and SteamWorld Quest. Red Dead Redemption 2 will receive at least one special edition, Rockstar Games has announced on its official newswire. The Grand Theft Auto developer promised more details on the presumably content-rich special editions (yes, it’s looking like we’ll get more than one) will drop next month alongside a bunch of new game info. Next month just so happens to be E3, so perhaps we’ll have a rare on-stage presence by Rockstar where it’ll share some new details on its cowboy sequel....

Yesterday, Ryan Reynolds broke the internet when he revealed the official release date for Deadpool 3, which is scheduled to arrive in theaters on September 6, 2024. Not only will Reynolds reprise his role as the merc with the mouth, but the actor revealed that Hugh Jackman will appear as Wolverine after he retired from the role with 2017’s Logan. While that’s all great to hear, many fans were wondering how Wolverine is alive after the events of Logan and how his appearance fits within the MCU’s timeline....

Japanese developer Illusion has said that the recent price drop of the Oculus Rift has seen an uplift in sales of its VR girlfriend experience game, VR Kanojo. Writing on his Twitter account, Naoyuki Otsuru, the self professed Hentai VR Evangelist, has attributed the sales increase of VR Kanojo to the Oculus Rift’s hardware being more reasonably priced. Audio gear brand Sennheiser, known primarily for their headphones and speakers, is launching a new holiday season program the company is calling its “Season of Giving.” The initiative will see Sennheiser supporting those who are underprivileged in the gaming community with a donation of 1,500 headsets to seven charities worldwide, including the U.S.-based Child’s Play organization. The full list of charities also includes Gamer Aid in Australia, Gaming Aid in Germany, Special Effect in the United Kingdom, Your Corps in New Zealand, and both Female Legends and Pink Orange in Sweden....

Shenmue III has been delayed once more, according to publisher Deep Silver and developer YS Net. This is not the first time the game has been delayed, so the news of another one doesn’t exactly have the impact. Still, there’s only so much my heart can take. Shenmue III is instead scheduled to release on November 19 this year. The news was dropped by the Deep Silver account on Twitter earlier today....

Developer Ys Net has revealed that Shenmue III will require a massive 100GB on your PC’s hard drive when it launches next year. To put it into perspective, that’s even more than open-world behemoth The Witcher 3, which ate up 45GB. There’s no word yet on how much the revenge-driven sequel will require on PlayStation 4, although we imagine it’ll be a whopper too. In terms of specs for PC users, Shenmue III should run nicely on an Intel Core i5-4460 (3....
