In a move likely made to prevent piracy, Sony has announced that its next software update will remove the “Install Other OS” feature that was available in pre-Slim PS3 models. In effect, those who have installed a Linux operating system on their PS3 will no longer be able to access this feature. Update 3.21 will be released on April 1, 2010 (April Fool’s Day?) and will not be an optional upgrade unless you wish to gimp your PS3....

Minecraft creator SethBling has released his most impressive mod to date – a fully functioning version of Nintendo’s Wii U shooter Splatoon. All you need is a vanilla version of Minecraft, the Splatoon mod download and a 1.8 server. The game has been designed to work best with two teams of four, but does support any team size. Users of the popular gaming chat app Discord will be able to share their music with their friends from today thanks to a deal struck with Spotify. Discord users are now able to connect their Spotify account by going to ‘Settings’ inside the chat app and then ‘Connections’ and connect a Spotify account. To listen as a team, you need to be a Spotify Premium user. Users can also share and highlight tunes with friends and a tag will be displayed to show what’s being listened to....
Multiple Square Enix titles have returned to Nvidia’s GeForce Now streaming service. Subscribers now have access to popular series like Deus Ex, Tomb Raider, Just Cause, and many more thanks to the renewed deal. Square Enix backed out of the initial agreement with Nvidia earlier this year before GeForce Now officially launched. Several other publishers backed out as well due to unfavorable changes Nvidia made to its licensing agreements. It’s been rough for Nvidia the past several months, but it seems to be smoothing things over with publishers in the background....

A few years back Steam released the Steam link-an interesting device designed that when plugged into a TV and connected to the internet, allowed streaming via a gaming PC. Sega is giving two more of its classic titles the movie treatment: Space Channel 5 and Comix Zone. No doubt inspired by the runaway success of the Sonic movies, Sega looks set to adapt the two games alongside Picturestart, which is also working on the upcoming Borderlands movie (which is seemingly now in post-production). Dance game Space Channel 5 will be retitled Channel 5 and, according to Hollywood Reporter, “tell the story of a hapless fast-food worker who is recruited by a freedom reporter from the future to save the world from aliens using the one thing that unites all people on the planet: our love of silly viral dances”....

Sony has released its first PlayStation 5 bundle that includes Horizon Forbidden West. The bundle has been spotted across UK stores - though of course it’s mostly sold out. Released earlier this year, Horizon Forbidden West is Sony’s current premiere title for the console, though it was somewhat overshadowed by the release of Elden Ring a week later. This bundle should help to boost the game’s profile.
