Sonic the Hedgehog looks very different in the new movie trailer dropped by Paramount Pictures today (via Xbox Achievements). The blue blur’s original design was ridiculed when he blustered onto the big-screen. He had beady eyes that had seen too much. Human teeth crammed into a tiny skull with thinning hair. Worst of all, he didn’t have gloves! Pale, white fingers on the end of his elongated, muscular limbs. Paramount Pictures and Sega moved quickly to turn things around and chose to delay the movie so that its teams could change the design and not spontaneously combust under the stress....

In another move to bring one of its iconic video game properties to the television and films, Sony is prepping a Jak and Daxter adaptation with Uncharted director, Ruben Fleischer, involved once more. This comes via an interview Fleischer had with Digital Trends. “I’m actually working on Jak and Daxter, a version of that, for PlayStation, which I think would be really cool to bring to life,” Fleischer said. If you are not familiar with Jak and Daxter, the series was developed by the folks behind the Uncharted series, Naughty Dog, and was a mainstay during the period when PlayStation 2 was all the rage....

Spider-Man is, in many ways, Marvel’s version of Superman. A character so well-trodden, a story that’s been told so many times, that occasionally it’s hard to get that excited about the next new take. But we have good news. Spider-Man: Into The Spider-verse is a Spider-Man movie that even the most sceptical viewer should get excited about. Spyro Reignited Trilogy came out back in November, sadly without a fairly important accessiblity option in the form of subtitles for those that wanted or needed the option causing a well warranted outcry that Activision was forced to give a statement to in response. Star Citizen, the still-in-development sci-fi game which has now earned $400m in user funding, has decided to change what goes on its product roadmap. Developer Cloud Imperium Games (CIG) said it is doing this because many of Star Citizen’s “most passionate players” were taking features added to the roadmap as “promises”, and getting upset when they were delayed. CIG said it would no longer show any upcoming features for “any patches beyond the immediate one in the next quarter… rather than continuing to display release projections that carry a high percentage chance of moving (those multiple quarters out)”....

Electronic Arts has officially announced that the next season of Star Wars: Battlefront II will be a Han Solo season. Players are speculating about what content may be coming with the update, but details are still under wraps with Electronic Arts saying,“Details to come out of Hyperspace next week.” As the Star Wars universe is historically tied together in regards to movie releases and expansions for the games, it is easy to draw the parallel between the upcoming May 25th release of Solo, with the Han Solo season coming to Star Wars: Battlefront II....

UPDATE: In a statement provided to VideoGamer.com, a Microsoft representative explained that “Undead Labs was not aware of the textures in question until they began the process of exporting textures for State of Decay: Year-One Survival Edition, and they are not visible in the original edition of State of Decay. “Undead Labs is no longer working with the contractor in question, and this material will not be present in State of Decay: Year-One Survival Edition....

Rebellion has outlined its extensive post-launch plans for spiffing adventurer Strange Brigade, confirming there’s a bunch of free maps in the pipeline in addition to the paid-for Season Pass goodies. Things kick off this week with the addition of the Texas Cowboy Character Pack for Season Pass owners, which adds Patrick ‘Bash’ Conaghan into the mix. Meanwhile, there’s free stuff in the shape of three Score Attack levels and a new Horde map, Palace....

Microsoft is about to throw Steam users a bone. Rare’s swashbuckling pirate game, Sea of Thieves, is coming to Valve’s popular storefront. Sega’s new initiative to launch a ton of their old games on mobile, Sega Forever, launched with five games last week and the reception from fans hasn’t exactly been glowing on the iOS App Store. Sega Networks chief marketing officer Mike Evans spoke to Eurogamer, and said ‘The launch itself has been really positive – if you look at the vast majority of feedback it’s been strong, if you look at ratings on the app store from consumers there’s definitely some very good sentiment as well....

Exorcism has never looked this stylish before. The upcoming playable character for Genshin Impact, Shenhe, just received a brand new character demo, showcasing many of her new abilities. She also has a super wholesome relationship with her fellow popsicle-bearing exorcist, Chongyun, and the two of them exorcise demons together. Okay, really, they just defeat some basic mobs in the overworld. But it’s still pretty cool to see. Shenhe is a disciple of the Cloud Retainer and a powerful member from a clan of exorcists....
