Eidos Montreal has revealed that Shadow of the Tomb Raider will include a New Game Plus mode, which isn’t really a shocker given most major titles nowadays support the feature. New Game Plus is unlocked after beating the game, and as per the norm, allows you to start a new game while carrying over various bits and bobs you’ve earned. These include skills, weapons, outfits, equipment upgrades, and gear. In addition, players will also be able to follow three additional Paths, namely Serpent, Jaguar, and Eagle, each one unlocking a bunch of exclusive rewards....

It’s been an eventful day for long-starved Skate fans; not only did footage from the series’ upcoming fourth instalment leak its way onto the internet, additional details have begun to emerge, with a new report suggesting Skate 4 will let players build skateparks together in free skate mode as part of an emphasis on user-generated content. That’s according to the ever-leaky Jeff Grubb, who shared some fresh Skate 4 morsals from his sources during the most recent episode of his Giant Bomb show Grubbsnax....

A Brazilian governmental filing has given us a rare glimpse into Sony’s thoughts on the impending $69bn Microsoft buyout of Activision Blizzard - and specifically, the fact that Xbox will soon own blockbuster first-person shooter franchise Call of Duty. In Brazil, companies within the same sphere of any such corporate transaction are asked for their thoughts on deals of this magnitude. And, intriguingly for us, Brazil also posts all of these details online (albeit in some cases with redacted passages)....

In its latest move to boost sales and further legitimize its “It Only Does Everything” campaign, Sony reached an agreement with Time Warner this week to bring HBO to the PS3. This agreement highlights Sony’s continuing aggression to blend TV and movie entertainment with the PS3’s gaming capabilities, as HBO offerings will now be featured alongside Netflix and MLB.TV on the console. The details of the revenue sharing between Sony and HBO remain tucked away in the lawyers’ briefcases, but PS3 users will have premium access to shows like Big Love, Curb Your Enthusiasm, and Entourage, among others....

Epic Games has announced the securing of another $2 billion USD in funding, thanks to Sony and The Lego Group. The Fortnite developer revealed the latest round of funding in a statement on their website. The figure is made up of $1 billion each from both the PlayStation manufacturer & the KIRKBI group, who own the Lego brand. The investment will contribute to their “aim to create new social entertainment exploring the connection between physical and digital worlds”....

Last year’s God of War was an absolutely cracking game, picking up multiple awards along the way for Kratos’ journey into fatherhood and marked a dramatic departure for the hero. Now, just over a year later Sony’s Santa Monica Studio has released a documentary going behind the scenes of its developer. Entitled Raising Kratos, the movie takes a deep dive into the three year creation of the game, all the way up to its release and beyond and gives a unique insight into just what went into creating the epic adventure....

Today Atlus wasn’t content with just releasing its daily trailer of the upcoming JRPG Soul Hackers 2, so they released a second. This one is a character trailer focusing on two of the main characters of the game, Ringo and Figue. We get to see them both in cutscenes going deeper into the story, and in gameplay action. You can watch it below, keeping in mind that this one includes English subtitles, but you may need to activate them manually with the “CC” button....

Today Atlus released its daily trailer of the upcoming JRPG Soul Hackers 2, focusing on one of the demons that will be featured in the game. This time we get to take a look at Fafnir, another classic Megami Tensei demons that also appeared in the recent Shin Megami Tensei V. Like most daily trailers, we also get the daily horoscope, which sees Sagittarius at the top of the fortune ranking and Aries at the bottom....

When dealing with Lovecraft-inspired tales of unknown horrors, the sense that everything around you is completely foreign and surreal is one of the main facets required to truly embody the subject matter. At the very least, Source of Madness, which enters Early Access today, succeeds at this. The game’s tone reminds me of FromSoftware games crossed with some of the titles made by Mommy’s Best Games. It’s creepy and strange but feels unwieldy and floaty in a way that I don’t feel quite suits a rogue-lite....

The new Space Invaders Infinity Gene is being released to the console world, and fans of the original as well as newcomers to the series will find a lot to love with this game. Those who own an iPhone were able to enjoy this title for the past year, and now the update of the retro classic is making its way onto both the PS3 and Xbox 360. My earliest memory of Space Invaders is playing on my parents’ old PC when I was a young boy....

THQ Nordic has released a new trailer for RTS RPG hybrid SpellForce III: Reforced ahead of its console debut next week. The game had originally intended to launch on consoles alongside the Reforced PC update back in December. However, developer Grimlore Games declared the game needed a little more time in the oven and delayed the release first to March, then once more to June. Now, it looks like it’s finally ready, complete with bespoke controls and UI, for the box under your telly....

It’s been over half a year since details first dropped about Activision’s upcoming foray into the up and down video game franchise that is Spider-Man. And for those of us who remember the downs much more vividly than the ups, the initial announcement of Spider-Man: Shattered Dimensions was not met with excitement, but the placing of bets on how bad the game would turn out to be. And now, after weeks upon weeks of small details being doled out, from voice casting to villain vignettes, the game has hit store shelves, and is ready to be judged....

EA DICE announced that the Star Wars: Battlefront II January update has been delayed due to a “critical issue” manifesting in testing (via PlayStation Trophies). The update that adds offensive hero BB-8 and the support-focused BB-9E should have been released today, but the developer believes that the extra time will let the team finish the new build without any technical hitches. “Unfortunately, this is sometimes the reality in game development where testing continues right up until an update is deployed onto our live servers....

The troubled Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic Remake might be with a new developer, if new reports are to be believed. According to Bloomberg, development is no longer being lead by the Texas-based Aspyr Media studio. As per an anonymous “person familiar with the change” – development is now being led by Saber Interactive. Specifically, they say, it’s been moved to one of Saber Interactive’s Eastern European studios. At the time of writing, the owners of both Aspyr and Saber Interactive – Embracer Group – haven’t commented on the report....

Electronic Arts has announced that Count Dooku will be winging his way to Star Wars Battlefront II on January 23. Darth Tyranus, who was played by the late, great Christopher Lee in Star Wars Episode II: Attack of the Clones and Star Wars Episode III: Revenge of the Sith, will come equipped with his Dark Ritual outfit. Dooku’s appearance marks a bunch of new updates for Star Wars Battlefront II based on the prequel trilogy, and will be joined by a new Clone Trooper outfit – the Coruscant Guard....

This palm-sized, spherical device is used either as a grenade or a C4 explosive device, as they would only explode when activated and could be programmed to explode after a certain time....

Chris Avellone, a veteran narrative designer on games like Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic II: The Sith Lords and Fallout: New Vegas, has been accused of sexual misconduct by at least four women, according to Bloomberg. The revelations have prompted several studios who’d hired Avellone as a consultant, including Techland, Paradox Interactive, and Gato Studios, to break ties with the writer. Avellone was working on Techland’s Dying Light 2, and had recently contributed to Gato’s The Waylanders and Paradox’s Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines 2, when women began to speak out about their experiences with the writer....
