A new video uploaded by Bethesda Softworks YouTube account has given a look at Vasco, a robot companion that will be at your side in the upcoming Starfield. The video is narrated by Istvan Pely, the lead artist on Starfield. Vacso is described as “Constellation’s very own expedition robot.” Those expecting a lengthy video will be slightly disappointed. Starfield’s lead quest designer Will Shen has divulged more about the upcoming game’s faction quests and the players’ companion side-kicks. In a new video, Shen revealed Starfield’s faction quests will be more similar to those from Bethesda’s Skyrim, in the sense that players will be able to experience each faction independently. This will not be a Fallout 4 situation, which saw players being locked out of factions after joining another (something that was a bone of contention among some members of the community)....

Valve disrupted the industry a few weeks ago when it revealed the Steam Deck, its hybrid-style portable PC. Rockstar Games has apologised for the technical issues surrounding the release of Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy – The Definitive Edition over the last week. A number of former and current developers with Red Dead Redemption 2 developer Rockstar Games have shared their experience with the studio’s notorious crunch culture. The comments come by way of an in-depth report conducted by Kotaku, with the site documenting remarks from over 70 individuals, among which includes 43 former and 34 current employees. It’s an extremely comprehensive piece, and contains a number of mixed responses to the top of the crunch; some insist Rockstar is an enjoyable place to work and stories of the crunch are exaggerated, while others talk of some pretty extreme expectations of staff....

Sony has confirmed it has removed the ability for existing PlayStation Plus subscribers to extend their subscription - blocking the ability for anyone to stack future membership via pre-paid cards - until the revamped service arrives in late June. This week, PlayStation Plus subscribers found they were unable to redeem pre-paid voucher cards and extend their subscription time - even if it was about to run out. Bewildered customers were told the situation was “temporary”, but not given further explanation....

Sony is shuttering its PlayStation VR studio based in Manchester, UK, and it’s possible that the developer’s AAA VR game has been binned as a result (via UploadVR). This will be the third PlayStation studio in the UK to be axed in this generation. Evolution was closed in 2016, Guerrilla Cambridge followed suit in 2017, and all three studios were focusing on PlayStation VR projects before befalling this fate. Though two first-party studios remain in the UK—London Studio and Media Molecule—it’s a sad story of Sony’s waning interest in developing games in the country....

Sony will release two live-service games by the end of this fiscal year, according a presentation from Jim Ryan. Not only that, but the company projects that it will release twelve live-service series by 2025. The report (via Eurogamer) reveals that there will be six by 2023, and another ten by 2024. What these two games are we can only guess. A smart guess would be the multiplayer mode for The Last of Us Part II....
