Rocket League’s going musical for the game’s second season since going free-to-play, with Epic Games and Psyonix announcing the details of what to expect on December 9 when Season 2 drops. One of the big new additions is a new Arena known as Neon Fields. Looking like a neon disco, the bright lights and thumping soundtrack is accompanied by a similarly EDM-inspired car known as the R3MX. It’s not just in the looks though, as the new update will also add the ability to set a custom Player Anthem to play from the game’s soundtrack when you score....

A series of open beta weekends are arriving for the upcoming survival game Icarus, and it’s quite the plan. Developer RocketWerkz announced their open beta plans today, with a series of open beta weekends starting on August 28. There are six planned weekends where those who pre-ordered the game can test out the game. Each new open beta weekend will launch with new biomes and features until the game’s full release in November....

Rebellion has revealed that Rogue Trooper Redux is launching on the Switch on October 17, day and date with the other platform versions. At least, it’s launching on the Switch in North America on that date. Other territories are still TBC. Rogue Trooper Redux is a remaster of a classic 2006 shooter, based on the 2000AD comics about a bright blue muscly genetically engineered soldier on a quest for revenge, and Rebellion has said that this could be a bit of a ‘toe in the water’ to see if a sequel would be well received....

Ubisoft has delayed the launch of upcoming free-to-play roller derby game Roller Champions. It’s been rather quiet from the game since wrapping up its closed beta last year. That trend continues, as oddly the announcement doesn’t seem to have made it to the game’s usual social media platforms. Instead, the news broke via Tom Henderson, who posted an image of the announcement posted to the game’s Discord server. It reads: “After evaluating every possible scenario, the team has concluded that they will need a bit more time to deliver the successful game you deserve....

Romancing SaGa: Minstrel Song is the latest title in Square Enix’s catalog to get the remaster treatment. Simply unveiled as Romancing SaGa: Minstrel Song Remastered, this re-release will feature the typical features of a remaster. It’ll be making its way over to PC later in winter 2022. Square Enix has been on a roll these last few years with its remasters of classic games. The company has amassed quite a reputation for re-releases in general, with Romancing SaGa: Minstrel Song Remastered being the latest....

Devolver Digital’s action game from earlier this year, Ruiner, has received a delightfully meaty update on PC that adds a New Game+ mode, nine new weapons and seven new outfits. The Savage Update, as it’s called, is free to those who own Ruiner and bumps the game up with a decent chunk of content to draw you back in. As well as the aforementioned additions, players can utilise some vicious new finishers in combat, and avail of the weaponry that’s been re-balanced since launch....

What is it with Rockstar and Red Dead on PC? Everyone with even a half-decent gaming PC wants to load up some digital cowboys on their system so they can hunt rabbits in the highest resolution possible. However, as with the original Red Dead Redemption, we have yet to hear a peep from Rockstar on the status of a Red Dead Redemption 2 PC port. Recently, there have been some signs that maybe, just maybe, a PC announcement could be on the way....

With the glut of gaming options available to gamers nowadays, it can be hard to stand out from the crowd, that is, unless you have both the style and substance. For Italian studio Modus Games, their latest project, Soulstice, the main attraction lies in not just its stylistic visuals but also a combat system that combines the powers of its twin protagonists, sisters Briar and Lute. The pair is known as a Chimera, hybrid warriors born of the union of two souls, and each takes up a different burden when it comes to facing down the enemies known as the Wraiths....

Time-looping space mystery Outer Wilds is heading to Nintendo Switch, publisher Annapurna Interactive and developer Mobius Digital have announced. Revealed as part of last night’s packed Nintendo Direct, the game sees you wake up on a mysterious planet with only 22 minutes to explore the solar system before the sun goes supernova and the time loop you find yourself trapped in restarts. It’s recieved plenty of acclaim and plaudits since its original 2019 launch, including picking up the Best Game gong in last year’s BAFTA Game Awards....

Marvel’s Spider-Man for the PlayStation 4 was a complete hit by all accounts. At the very least, it was the Spider-Man game that many video game fans and Spider-Man fans were waiting for since the wall crawler’s first playable debut. Now that the game has been out for well over a year, fans have had plenty of time to speculate on what a sequel could look like. There has been plenty of speculation on what plot elements, Marvel characters, or villains could show up in Spider-Man 2....

Short Version: Splinter Cell: Conviction looks amazing and plays extremely comfortably. The rich world is incredibly engaging and believable from start to finish. The story is a bit short and predictable, but it’s told in interesting ways that add even more to the overall graphical flair of the game. To say Splinter Cell: Conviction is an experience is putting it a little mildly. The game has style, and lots of it....

Final Fantasy publisher Square Enix has announced it is donating $500k to the UN’s fund for Ukrainian refugees. Separately, the company has also launched an employee fundraising program with matched donations to benefit several other key charities: the Red Cross, UNICEF and Doctors Without Borders. “We sincerely hope that peace will be restored, and that those affected by the crisis will regain peaceful life as quickly as possible,” Square Enix said in a statement published to Twitter today....

Square Enix is now taking pitches from developers via its Collective service for ideas that utilise its classic properties Gex, Fear Effect and Anachronox. “It’s been almost a year since we fully launched Collective, and one of the headline announcements back then was the prospect of allowing developers to create games based in some of the old Eidos IPs. But it wasn’t something I wanted to open up right away, in case it overshadowed the original games that developers submitted to the platform,” explained Square Enix....

Square Enix has outlined some of the games which will be on show at E3 next month, including Deus Ex: Mankind Divided, Hitman, Just Cause 3, Star Ocean: Integrity and Faithlessness, and I Am Setsuna, but has perhaps more interestingly teased some “exciting Tomb Raider news”. “We’ve got some other exciting demos lined up on the show floor,” it said in the first part of its Road To E3 blog, “but we’ll save those updates for our Road To E3 Part 2 blog, which will feature some exciting Tomb Raider news and details on a few new games that our team has been hard at work on....

Agents of Yesterday, the third free expansion for the free-to-play MMO Star Trek Online, is now available on PS4 and Xbox One, Perfect World Entertainment has announced. In the new expansion players are sent back in time to create a new captain from Star Trek: The Original Series, and will also explore episodic story content inspired by the original television series. The expansion features a cast of characters voiced by Star Trek actors, including Chekov (Walter Koenig), Scotty (Chris Doohan, son of James Doohan), Temporal Agent Daniels (Matt Winston), Admiral Leeta (Chase Masterson) and Cyborg Crewman 0718 (Joseph Gatt)....

A Star Wars: Battlefront beta will launch for PS4, PC and Xbox One early in October, EA has announced. Described as a technical test, the beta will feature three game modes: Walker Assault on Hoth: A 40-player multiplayer battle featuring Rebels and the Empire. Walker Assault will also give you the chance to play as two of the most iconic characters in the Star Wars universe: Darth Vader and Luke Skywalker....

EA will reveal the first look at Star Wars Battlefront during a Star Wars expo next month, the publisher has announced. “We’re thrilled to share that Star Wars Battlefront will be taking part in Star Wars Celebration next month in Anaheim, CA from April 16-19,” EA said on the game’s website. “We could not think of a better or more appropriate place to debut the game officially for the first time than the premier event that celebrates the Star Wars universe and the legions of fans who have fallen in love with it....

Spotted by Twitter’s Wario64, the art clearly depicts two characters: a lightsaber-wielding hero – who is presumably the game’s protagonist – and what looks like a droid companion. There’s also the wreckage of a Republic Star Destroyer in the background. Check it out below.
