Why isn’t Sony attending this year’s E3? Because they’ve been giving us too many big games and they need as rest, apparently. At least, that’s what Shawn Layden says (more or less). There’s no doubt that E3 is one of the biggest events in the gaming calendar. The Electronic Entertainment Expo is where developers and publishers gather to hawk their wares, wow us (or disappoint us, there’s rarely any middle ground there), and show just how far a nanosecond’s footage of Master Chief’s visor can go to get gamers hyped....

Sony and Honda are joining forces on new electric vehicles that could incorporate PlayStation 5 consoles. Sony Honda Mobility was established in September and plans to build electric vehicles with entertainment like music, movies, and the PlayStation 5 in mind. “Sony has content, services and entertainment technologies that move people. We are adapting these assets to mobility, and this is our strength against Tesla,” president Izumi Kawanishi told the Financial Times (thanks TheGamer)....

Sony has recently confirmed that its next-generation console is, as expected, the PlayStation 5, and that it will be available at some point in the holiday season of 2020. And if a new job listing is to be believed, the PS5 may very well be the fastest console ever made. Sony is hiring a Senior Cloud Engineer Manager to work on the PlayStation 5. The job listing describes the PS5 as the world’s fastest console, but the posting was later updated with the line removed, along with any mention of the PS5....

Spider-Man: Miles Morales developer Insomniac Games has confirmed via Twitter that the upcoming PlayStation 5 game will be playable in 4K at 60 frames per second. As the tweet above notes, those performance figures are part of an optional mode which will seemingly not be the default way to play Miles Morales. Early information suggests that the game will instead default to 30 FPS. If true, then that figure does raise some interesting questions....

We didn’t get a firm release date for Splatoon 3 during tonight’s big Nintendo Direct, but we did get an inkling of a launch window: this summer, of 2022. Square Enix has said it’s still too early" to embed blockchain in its most popular franchises games, but has confirmed that “the development of blockchain games and entertainment products” remains on the company’s list of medium-term goals. According to Michsuzuki and spotted and translated by our friends at VGC, Square Enix’s CEO Yosuke Matsuda confirmed at the company’s recent Shareholders’ Meeting that it was “too early to make Dragon Quest and Final Fantasy blockchain games”, emphasising that he was “not thinking about that” for upcoming releases....

It’s no secret that Star Wars Battlefront 2 had a rocky launch back in 2017. However, the Dice product has been received quite well post-launch, selling over 10 million copies worldwide. Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order is only a couple short weeks away from launch, so naturally EA has released a new trailer leading up to that the game’s arrival on November 15th. When Ragnarok Game, LLC published Rune II last month, it didn’t get quite what it was bargaining for. Shortly after its arrival, developer Human Head Studios closed its doors without warning — only to reopen as a new Bethesda property, Roundhouse Studios. Now, Ragnarok has filed a lawsuit against the studio, saying the publisher was not only cheated, but that Rune II was practically abandoned. According to the studio, Human Head didn’t notify Ragnarok about its closing....

Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund (PIF), set up by Prince Mohammed bin Salman, has bought a 5% stake in Nintendo. According to a report from Bloomberg, this means that the PIF (which is worth $500 billion) is now the fifth-largest Nintendo shareholder. Nintendo has declined to comment, having learned of the buy through news reports. The PIF has said that the purchase was made for investment purposes. This is part of a concerted effort, by the PIF, to invest in games companies....

A number of Steam curator groups have been removed from the platform after a developer managed to figure out they were in fact scammers. BROK the InvestiGator, developed by solo indie dev Cowcat Games, released on 26th August on Steam and GOG. On Steam, Cowcat noted that BROK had received mostly positive reviews from players, gaming sites and curators alike. Two days later, Cowcat posted a Twitter thread regarding some unusual behaviour from curators....
