Take Two’s Zynga has announced that Star Wars: Hunters has been delayed once more, and will now release in 2023. The development team addressed fans in a statement posted to the game’s official Twitter account. “We are working tirelessly to achieve our vision for Star Wars Hunters,” it read. “Our ambition is to create a competitive battle arena game that will entertain for years to come. To ensure we meet the high expectations we are setting for fans globally and ourselves as developers, we have made the decision to delay the worldwide launch of Star Wars: Hunters....

Steam has broken its record of concurrent players, with over 30 million users online at the weekend. As per SteamDB, on Sunday there were 30,032,005 users online - a new all-time peak. Steam numbers have been rising since the pandemic began in 2020, with a previous peak of just under 30 million back in March this year. Call of Duty: Modern Warfare has enjoyed quite a bit of success since its launch on October 25. The first-person shooter game has smashed Activision sales records, bringing in a staggering $600 million in its opening weekend alone. Double Eleven has unveiled a launch trailer for today’s release of Rust: Console Edition, giving fans an idea of the post-apocalyptic fun waiting for them in the multiplayer survival sim. Shameless Season 11 is officially set, marking a monumental swan song for the veteran Showtime series. The confirmation of Shameless’s final season was made by Showtime Networks President of Entertainment, Gary Levine, at the Television Critics Association’s Winter Press Tour. Ubisoft has confirmed that two characters from a new crossover promotion are on the way to its Smash Bros-like Brawlhalla. Characters from Konami’s Castlevania games – Simon Belmont and Alucard – are launching on 19th October, “just in time for Halloween”. Speaking during a AMA on Reddit this week, Skybound Games boss Ian Howe revealed that the studio wants to have 100% of Telltale’s former staff to complete the last two episodes of The Walking Dead: The Final Season. Howe said that he is in touch with ‘most, if not all’ of The Walking Dead development team, although this isn’t to say that all of them want or have the opportunity to return to the project....

Skytorn, the Metroidvania-style title from the developer behind 2018’s critically acclaimed Celeste, has been scrapped. Designer Noel Berry dropped the news during a post on Medium, where he revealed that the team had ‘struggled with what the game was’ during its troubled development cycle. ‘To its core it was a procedurally generated adventure game without permadeath, but the procedural elements always clashed with the Metroidvania themes, and I didn’t know how to design around that,’ said Berry....

Sony has closed DriveClub developer Evolution Studios. The closure follows redundancies made at the studio last year, shortly after Sony announced that it was transitioning the studio to “focus on DriveClub as a service”. “Regular reviews take place throughout SCE Worldwide Studios, ensuring that the resources that we have in such a competitive landscape can create and produce high quality, innovative and commercially viable projects,” Sony said in a statement provided to GamesIndustry....
