A free game update coming to Rocket League in September will introduce a range of Mario Kart style power-ups, developer Psyonix has revealed. Rocket League Rumble is described as an “epic battle royale-style addition that comes stacked with randomized power-ups”. “Whether you’re equipped with the Haymaker (which punches the ball), the Swapper (which changes your place on the field with an opponent’s), or the Tornado (you’ll just have to see it to believe it), each one of the 11 new power-ups brings an extra dimension to the classic Rocket League formula,” adds the developer....

Today Sony Interactive Entertainment announced that the former PlayStation exclusive Sackboy: A Big Adventure is joining the growing list of first-party titles coming to PC. The game originally developed by Sumo Digital will launch on Steam and Epic Games Store on October 27. Sai is a third person action game set in an ancient Celtic forest invaded by machines, and 80 per cent of its profits are donated to charities fighting deforestation. It’s a little like Horizon Zero Dawn with a dash of Hellblade: Senua’s Sacrifice, in my opinion. The machines attacking the forest seek the Heart Tree, which generates the magic keeping the world alive. “Though its presence is now but a lost memory, the machines remain, determined to find this all powerful entity,” reads the description from Studio Mutiny....

It goes without saying that Ubisoft is one of the biggest companies in video games today. The name behind such massive releases as the Assassin’s Creed and Far Cry franchises, it seems as though Ubisoft has the financial backing and wide consumer base to launch practically any title it wants and see it become a majorly successful hit. However, it appears as though even Ubisoft occasionally has to pull the plug on some ambitious new projects, with the company recently canceling a mysterious game that was in development for over three years....

Pre-orders are now live for the Resident Evil Village Gold Edition, with a new trailer showing fresh footage of Lady Dimitrescu in action. The Winters Expansion DLC builds on the Mercenaries mode and gives players the chance to play as both the iconic Lady D and villainous Karl Heisenberg, as well as Chris Redfield. Sega revealed today that it will announce a new project with an official livestream next week. The livestream will happen at 8:00 pm Japan time on June 3, which translates into 7:00 am EDT, 4:00 am PDT, non BST, and 1:00 pm CEST. At the moment, the nature of the project has not been disclosed, but it will be presented by two Sega veterans, Hiroyuki Miyazaki, and Yosuke Okunari. Interestingly, the announcement was made with what appears to be the image representing a chocolate-covered Sega Genesis controller and Miyazaki-san was project lead on the Sega Genesis Mini, while Okunari-san worked as contents lead on the micro-console....

Publisher Devolver Digital has released the previously rumored teaser trailer for Shadow Warrior 3. Yes, we said “previously rumored teaser trailer.” In somewhat typical Devolver fashion, the publisher previously teased a teaser trailer for Shadow Warrior 3, but that teaser for the teaser (if you follow) didn’t include many details regarding the upcoming sequel. While this trailer is only meant to serve as an appetizer for the full upcoming reveal of Shadow Warrior 3 (which is expected to occur during Devolver Digital’s upcoming July 11 digital showcase designed to replace their previously planned E3 2020 event), it does reveal some new information about the project....

Shenmue III has been delayed once more, publisher Deep Silver and producer Yu Suzuki have announced. Writing a post on the game’s Kickstarter blog, Suzuki revealed that the game requires ‘a little more refinment before being truly finished’. As a result the game will miss its August 27 date and now release November 19. In case you’ve not been keeping up, this is the latest in a series of delays for the title, with it originally set to appear in ‘Holiday 2017’ but missed that date before being delayed into the ‘second half of 2018....

Bandai Namco has released a new trailer over the weekend to showcase the next upcoming DLC fighter for beat-em-up SoulCalibur VI, and it’s a crossover with another weapons-based fighter as Samurai Shodown’s Haohmaru joins the roster. Revealed over the weekend at this year’s Japan EVO Tournament, the gameplay trailer – which we’ve embedded below – shows the poster child of the SNK franchise fits well in the world of Soul Calibur, and can more than hold his own in a fight against the rest of the SoulCalibur cast....

Xseed Games and Marvelous Entertainment announced the release dates of the PS5 port of the farming simulator Story of Seasons: Pioneers of Olive Town. The game will release on Sony’s old-gen console on July 26 in North America and July 29 in Europe. The game was originally launched exclusively for Nintendo Switch in March 2021, followed by a PC version in September. Now it’s finally expanding further, allowing fans of the series on PlayStation to enjoy it as well....

Square Enix has revealed Stranger of Paradise Final Fantasy Origin, a prequel action RPG set in the Final Fantasy universe. The game was first revealed as part of last night’s Square Enix Presents Summer Showcase. As was previously rumoured, the adventure is a collaboration between Square Enix and Nioh developer Team Ninja and is being heralded as a “bold new vision” for the series. You’ll be playing as Jack and his allies Ash and Jed as they “throw open the gates to the Chaos Shrine”....

BlueTwelve Studio and Annapurna Interactive have revealed Stray, a game about a lost cat in a strange city, and it’s in development for PC and PlayStation 5. Stray is set in a neon-soaked city populated by robots. Remnants of human habitation linger, like air conditioning units, graffiti, and garbage bins, but this is clearly a very different world to ours. And, the cat has a backpack. Promising action, exploration, and puzzle-solving, BlueTwelve Studio wanted to tell a new story about the future from a unique perspective....
