2D side-scroller Shovel Knight will release on Xbox One next week, Microsoft has revealed. The news follows confirmation overnight that the hit indie platformer had passed first-party certification, although a firm release date has yet to be announced. The game is also due to go on sale on PS3, PS4 and PS Vita across the US and Europe today having launched on PC, 3DS and Wii U last year. A price for the Xbox One release has not been confirmed....
Bloober Team is rumoured to be working on a remake of Silent Hill 2, with reworked puzzles and new endings, as a timed PlayStation exclusive. The rumour comes courtesy of Nate the Hate and has been corroborated by VentureBeat’s Jeff Grubb. It’s also rumoured that multiple Silent Hill projects are in the works, including a new mainline entry in the series as well as side projects. “This is the stuff I’ve heard, and it comes from multiple different sources,” said Grubb....
Lego Brawls, a minifigure fighting game previously launched on Apple Arcade, is set to relaunch this summer on consoles. The Smash Bros-style fighter will arrive on Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, PS5, Xbox One and Xbox Series X/S, published by Bandai Namco. The idea here is to battle - solo or with up to eight players (four on PlayStation) - and collect minifigures which you can then customise to create your own hero of choice....

This past week, Nintendo launched Pokémon Home, a central cloud-based hub for managing players’ Pokémon from across their various Pokémon games. Not only is the application super convenient for turning your many Pokémon collections into one, but it updates the sprites of shiny Pokémon as well. What seems to be the biggest update is the fact that even the minimized sprites of your shiny Pokémon will now show their shiny colorway....
Sonic Mania Plus, the physical re-release of last year’s celebrated retro-’em-up platformer, will launch on PlayStation 4, Switch, and Xbox One on July 17, Sega has announced. The Plus edition of the spikey speedster’s nostalgia-driven adventure includes a number of extra features, such as a new Encore Mode, two new playable characters (Mighty the Armadillo and Ray the Flying Squirrell; seriously, where did they pop up from?), plus four-player support for Competition and Time Attack modes....

After controversies and delays, the Sonic The Hedgehog movie has finally made it to theatres. In what has to be a total shocker, it’s apparently not that bad! Sonic’s cinematic debut turned out to be much less disastrous than Mario’s. And there’s no doubt that the film was improved by Sonic’s drastic redesign. It was more visually appealing and more friendly-looking than the previous monstrosity. But most importantly, it was infinitely more kissable....

The same rule applies to Sonic the Hedgehog creator Yuji Naka, who is now working with Square Enix in a collaborative effort on an “original action game,” according to the programmer’s Twitter account. Spyro Reignited Trilogy has received a fresh batch of gameplay footage today, this time showcasing the Hurricos Realm from the spruced up version of Spyro 2: Ripto’s Rage. There’s over three minutes worth of gameplay to soak up, which sees Spyro having to shut down massive force fields across the level, before battling against Gear Grinders and other foes, which remain faithful to their original designs. Still, those of you who have played the original PlayStation version will still find a number of extra touches spread across Hurricos, just to keep things fresh....
Spyro Reignited Trilogy has bumped Red Dead Redemption 2 off the top of the UK All Format Chart, shifting more physical copies in its launch window than Fallout 76, which entered at number three. Although Pokemon Let’s Go! Pikachu and Pokemon Let’s Go! Eevee are different versions of the same game, they don’t count as one release. If they did, then Nintendo’s latest Switch game would have technically beaten Spyro to pole position....
EA’s latest Star Wars shooter Star Wars: Battlefront 2 is now on Origin Access. Anyone who has stumped up the monthly subscription can now play the game ahead of the game’s full release. This trial offers ten hours of gameplay prior to the launch on 17 November. There is also a 10% discount if the game is purchased after testing it out and all progress will carry over. The good news is, this trial includes both the single-player and multiplayer modes....

Star Wars: The Clone Wars season 7 tells the stories that showrunner Dave Filoni never got to tell during the show’s original run, which came to an end in 2014. The new and final season consists of 12 episodes, covering arcs previously alluded to in Star Wars lore but never released in final form on the small screen. “The Bad Batch” arc covers a mission to rescue missing clone trooper Echo from the Separatists, while “Ahsoka’s Walkabout” explores what Anakin’s former apprentice got up to after leaving behind the Jedi Order....
Playing through Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order naturally gives the game’s protagonist Cal Kestus access to six different colors for his largely customizable lightsaber, but those who pre-ordered the game before it released on November 15, 2019 also had access to an orange variant. At least that’s how it used to work, as a patch released today across all platforms made it so everyone can wield an orange lightsaber. Details for the patch to Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order were outlined by Reddit user UNTDrew, a Community Manager for Electronic Arts (EA), in the r/FallenOrder subreddit....
For years, it seemed like a single-player Star Wars game was never going to happen. After Disney acquired the rights in 2012, LucasArts’ Boba Fett game, Star Wars 1313, ceased development. Then, in 2017 EA shut down Visceral Games during production of an open world Stars Wars game from Uncharted director, Anne Hennig, codenamed, “Project Ragtag.” That wasn’t the last single-player Star Wars game terminated by EA either, with the cancellation of a Star Wars project called “Orca” earlier this year....
While little is currently known about the story concerning Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order, it is known that the Jedi protagonist Cal Kestis is on the run from the Sith Inquisitors. Many may recall that Darth Vader leads this force of Force-sensitives in the hunt for any Order 66 survivors, over the Grand Inquisitor who had previously been defeated in Star Wars Rebels, and the latest tease suggests that players will come nose-to-nose with Vader himself....
