Skate 4 may still be a thing yet. A recent trademark filing for EA’s Skate series has seen the company renew its license for the Skate name. While an earlier report had caught wind of a February listing that was abandoned, EA filed for renewal in June that was granted to the company. This doesn’t mean the sequel is being worked on, but more that EA is still interested in retaining IP rights to the brand....
Skyman, a new film from The Blair Witch Project’s Daniel Myrick, is set to make its Earthly arrival, set to bring about more fictional-found-footage drama, as evidenced by the release of a new trailer on the occasion of the film’s acquisition by distributor Gravitas Ventures, which has release plans that are intrinsically of the COVID-19 era. Myrick, who wrote and directed the picture, has returned to his original wheelhouse with sci-fi offering Skyman, which essentially gives the arena of UFOs and close encounters the… well, Blair Witch-type disguised fourth wall treatment, manifesting as a pseudo-documentary....

Sniper Elite the Board Game is an adaptation of the successful stealth series for tabletop players, and it pits one player against the rest in a game of deception. Developed by Rebellion Unplugged, the game has been designed by David Thompson and Roger Tankersley. One player is Allied sniper Karl Fairburne, sneaking up on a top secret WWII U-boat launch facility. They’ll use their gadgets and gear to misdirect and eliminate their enemies, which are the other players who have control over squads of German soldiers on the base....
It’s difficult to nail down one specific issue that plagues Sniper Ghost Warrior: Contracts but it’s abundantly clear what the game is trying to be - a mix between the episodic Hitman games and Far Cry with some generic near-future elements. It’s an experience that’s routinely frustrating and almost never rewarding. A slow, boorish, slog that’s at best mediocre and at worst infuriating. The game is relatively short, only taking roughly 8 hours to complete the main objectives, but it becomes a slog as more issues become apparent....
PlayStation boss Jim Ryan has said that he expects sales of the upcoming PlayStation 5 console to reach 7 million units by the end of March 2021. Speaking to Korean outlet Naver Sports (spotted and translated by Eurogamer) Ryan said “We think the PS5 will sell more in its first fiscal year than [we] sold in the first fiscal year at the time of PS4 launch.” The PlayStation 4 managed to notch up a total of seven million consoles worldwide by April 2014, following the console’s Western launch in November 2013 and Japanese launch in February 2014 according to the company’s own figures....
Until now, Spellbreak has been exclusively available for PC players through the Epic Games Store. However, starting on December 15, PC players will be able to download Spellbreak for free through Steam. That’s not all. According to the Spellbreak Twitter account, if the game reaches 50,000 wishlists on Steam before Chapter 1 begins, all Steam players will be gifted the Hinterland outfit. Star Wars Battlefront’s multiplayer beta will be open to all players on PS4, Xbox One and PC when it goes live next month, EA has confirmed. The beta will be available on all three formats in October, with an exact date set to be announced “as soon as [EA has] the final details locked in”. The beta will include access to two of the game’s online multiplayer modes and maps – Walker Assault on Hoth and Drop Zone on Sullust – and a Survival Mission set on Tatooine in either online or local split-screen co-op....
As Harry Potter fans eagerly await more news surrounding Chucklefish’s upcoming title, Witchbrook, swashbuckling fans can also prepare to take to the high seas in an all-new adventure called, Seablip. Drawing much of its inspiration from Stardew Valley, Seablip is an upcoming real-time tactical RPG and story-driven single-player game featuring pirates and exploring the seas of a vast open world. Slated for a Q4 2021 release on PC and Mac, the game’s sole creator and developer, Jardar Solli, has just kicked off the Kickstarter campaign to help fund the project, with backer rewards including copies of the game, in-game credits, closed-beta access, custom characters, and even the chance to design your own pirate ship or island....

Rock Band creator Harmonix has confirmed that not only will music game Rock Band 4 work via backwards compatbility on the upcoming Xbox Series S/X and PlayStation 5, but all your DLC and accessories for the game should work from launch to the delight of plastic instrument enthusiasts everywhere. Making the announcement on the Harmonix blog, the studio confirmed that it had done extensive testing on the most popular accessories for the game, which originally released on Xbox One and PlayStation 4 all the way back in 2015, to ensure that fans will be able to use the vast majority of instruments on their new systems even including e-kit drummers and Legacy Wireless players who are still rocking Xbox 360/PS3 instruments provided they have either the dongle or the official Legacy Wireless adapter....
Rock Band 4 will cost £20 more on Xbox One compared to PS4 because of the requirement for an additional adapter to support older peripherals. The adapter will be included as standard in all standalone copies of the Xbox One version of the game, according to MCV. Harmonix has confirmed that, thanks to the inclusion of the adaptor, the Xbox One version will retail at $80/£70, compared to the PS4’s $60/£50 RRP....

Battlefield 1’s open beta will run for 9 days, according to an email allegedly sent to Czech website Zing by EA Poland. Zing claims to have been told that the beta will begin on August 31 and end on September 8, giving players just over a week to test out the upcoming shooter. The email also states that “this is the only chance for everyone to try the game before release”, suggesting that it is the only public beta planned prior to launch....
