Publisher Square Enix has announced that it’ll be giving a spit and polish to one of its classic 1998 JPRGs in the form of SaGa Frontier Remastered for release in Summer 2021. 3DS platformer Sonic Boom: Fire & Ice has been delayed to 2016, SEGA has confirmed. The game had previously been scheduled to release this winter. The delay will offer developer Sanzaru Games more time to apply polish, although it isn’t yet clear how long fans will be left waiting. “It’ll be ready when it’s ready,” SEGA says. Perhaps more importantly, SEGA’s statement suggests that it intends to put more effort into ensuring Sonic games are of a good enough standard going forward, following last year’s disastrous launch of Sonic Boom: Rise of Lyric....

Sony big cheese Shawn Layden has shed light on the format holder’s controversial decision to skip E3 this year. Speaking with CNet, Layden revealed that Sony’s Destination PlayStation event in February has effectively taken the place of what it would usually do at E3. ‘Now we have an event in February called Destination PlayStation, where we bring all retailers and third-party partners to come hear the story for the year,’ said Layden....

Twitch streamer SHiFT has received an inappropriate content warning for a SpongeBob SquarePants emoji frequently used in his chat. The streamer is known for playing SpongeBob SquarePants: Battle for Bikini Bottom, so many of his channel’s emojis are SpongeBob-themed. One of these emojis stems from an episode where SpongeBob accidentally rips his pants and gets a good reaction for doing so, so he then repeatedly does the same thing on purpose and ruins the impact of his own incidental joke....
