Sonic Mania update 1.04 has spin-dashed its way to PlayStation 4 owners overnight, implementing a range of much-requested features for the retro-fuelled platform title. The main highlight here (via Reddit) is the addition of new stage transitions, showcasing how the Blue Blur ended up getting to the next level and sort of fleshing out the narrative in bite-sized chunks. Not that you really need to worry about the story in a Sonic game, but it’s a cool addition and something that fans have been pretty vocal about since launch....

Sony has extended the online multiplayer support for a selection of PlayStation 3 titles, including PlayStation All-Stars Battle Royale and Warhawk. The format holder had originally intended to pull the plug on the games at the end of October. However, it has now confirmed that both titles, alongside Sound Shapes and Twisted Metal, will have online support until January 31, 2019. Still, it’s worth mentioning that Warhawk is an online-only title, so you’ll have to switch on your PS3 to LAN mode if you want to actually keep playing the game beyond January....

As I’m sure you’re all well aware, after almost a month of downtime, the PlayStation Network is finally up and running again after being hacked into back around Easter. Players have wasted no time getting back into the swing of things online, if the overwhelming, system-crashing number of password change requests are any indication. To make up for the long downtime and the potential threat of credit card information being at risk, Sony released a “welcome back” package for the PlayStation Store’s return....

It looks like the citizens of the United States are not the only ones feeling litigious over the recent theft of personal identification information from the PlayStation Network. Yesterday, the Toronto-based law firm of McPhadden Samac Tuovi LLP filed a proposed class-action lawsuit in Ontario Superior Court of Justice on behalf of college student, Natasha Maksimovic. The suit is directed against Sony Japan, Sony USA, Sony Canada and other Sony entities for a failure to “adequately safeguard certain personal information, financial data and usage data belonging to the Plaintiff and other class members....

Sony has pulled listings for Dino Crisis, Soulcalibur: Broken Destiny, and Ridge Racer 2, which briefly popped up on the Italian announcement confirming July’s additions to PlayStation Plus. It seems like both games are on their way to the Classics collection. Along with several others, too. In a post on the PlayStation Blog, Sony announced the first wave of new games coming to the service. From July 19th, PS Plus Extra and Premium subscribers will get Final Fantasy VII Remake Intergrade, Stray, and Marvel’s Avengers....

It seems that Nintendo isn’t quite done with Splatoon 2, as it’s due to receive two updates in 2020 that will change how many of the weapons in the game will work. Square Enix had trademarked three names in Europe that hint towards a localization of the Seiken Densetsu Collection outside of Japan. In 2017, Square Enix released the Seiken Densetsu Collection for the Nintendo Switch in Japan, which consisted of the three Seiken Densetsu games. The first two games were released outside of Japan as Final Fantasy Adventure and Secret of Mana, while the third game was never officially localized. Recently, Square Enix has trademarked the names “Final Fantasy Adventure”, “Mystic Quest”, and “Secret of Mana” in Europe (via Siliconera), which strongly hints towards a Seiken Densetsu Collection Release, as Mystic Quest was the name given to Final Fantasy Adventure in Europe....
