It’s looking increasingly likely the new Sonic game, potentially named Sonic Frontiers, will be revealed later this week. Fans have found several clues pointing to this over the past couple of days. The big one is the uncovering of a new domain on the official Sonic the Hedgehog website, as noted by NME. While frontiers.sonicthehedgehog.com currently points to a 403 forbidden page, it does match up with the name Sega trademarked last month....

Think fast: the sequel to the Sonic the Hedgehog movie is Sonic the Hedgehog 2. Man, that’s going to further mess up Wikipedia and internet searches. The film’s Twitter account announced the name earlier today, while reaffirming the release date of April 8, 2022. The message also include a short, animated clip showing an orange ‘2’ trailing off into two, white-tipped tails. I have no idea what it’s implying. Sonic the Hedgehog 2 will see the return of the cast and crew....

Sonic The Hedgehog is making his way to the big screen in his first live-action movie ever with director Jeff Flower at the helm. If you were hoping that the next generation of consoles were going to let you to clear some space on your media shelf I have bad news for you, more specifically Sony CEO Kaz Hirai has bad news for you. In a recent interview Hirai nixed the idea that the PlayStation 4 would be digital-only. It’s interesting that Sony sounds so adamant against a digital distribution plan when less than a year ago they released the PSP Go, even if they did chalk it up as a ’learning experience’....

Sony has revealed during its latest earnings call that its next-generation console, which, let’s face it, will probably be called PlayStation 5, won’t be released before April 2020. That means no new PlayStation console until May next year at the very earliest, although typically, Sony tends to launch new hardware in the back half of the year, at least for the US and UK. That’s your lot, though. Sony didn’t say anything else about when we can expect the PS5, so we’ll just have to play the waiting game again....

Indie puzzlers are less than a dime a dozen these days. The creative director on the PlayStation 4-exclusive Spider-Man game has admitted he’s keen to see the superhero and other Marvel properties make the transition to Square Enix’s Kingdom Hearts franchise. Speaking during a brisk Q&A session with Game Informer in light of the game’s release date announcement, Brian Intihar described it as his ‘dream’ to see the web-slinger turn up in the Disney-RPG franchise, and felt optimistic considering Pixar has recently been confirmed for Kingdom Hearts III....

Fresh off the heels of a commitment to getting more of its games on PC, Sony revealed that Spider-Man Remastered is next in the queue. The announcement came during the June 2022 State of Play event, and included a fresh new trailer to build some hype. The core experience of Spider-Man Remastered will release on August 12 via Steam and the Epic Games Store. Sony didn’t mention pricing or recommended specs, but we can expect that in the months ahead....

A major new update for Star Wars Battlefront has begun rolling out across PS4, Xbox One and PC, EA has confirmed. Besides the various tweaks, bug fixes and balancing changes, the February Update also introduces a brand new map, ‘Twilight on Hoth’, which is playable across Walker Assault, Supremacy, Turning Point, Blast, Fighter Squadron, Drop Zone and Heroes vs. Villains; a new mission ‘Survival in the Ice Caves’; and the integration of the Jakku DLC content directly into the game, meaning it no longer requires a separate download....

Swedish video game company Starbreeze has announced its return to publishing with an agreement signed with development studio Walking Tree Games to publish its upcoming game: The Tribe Must Survive. Starbreeze, best known for its development of the Payday series, fell from grace following the disastrous launch of Overkill’s The Walking Dead on Steam back in 2018. The game’s failure led to severe financial issues and the exit of the company’s boss Bo Andersson....

The side-scrolling pixel art RPG Warlocks 2: God Slayers has been revealed by developer Frozen District. The game is a follow-up to the original Warlocks offering co-op hack’n’slash adventuring for up to four players. In this title, there’s a new story where the intrepid adventurers must now face the gods who are displeased with the vanquishing of the shadow monsters in the first game. Having learned a lot when creating the first game, Frozen District has added a “legit class system” with skill trees and they have expanded the world with unique locations with their own monster inhabitants....

Over the last six months, Jagex has seen both RuneScape‘s lead designer David Osborne and executive producer Ryan Warden step down from their roles. Osborne’s departure was particularly surprising, as he had been working on RuneScape since 2006. The UK-based developer has since filled these roles with ex-game designer Mod Jack and the newly appointed Mod Keeper. This change in personnel has been accompanied by an equal change in communication with Jagex revealing RuneScape‘s first-ever content roadmap....

Scott Pilgrim vs. The World is a comic book series created by Bryan Lee O’Malley, and was later adapted for the big screen by director Edgar Wright, starring Michael Cera and Mary Elizabeth Winstead.
