Electronic Arts currently holds the exclusive right to create games based on the Star Wars franchise. It seems that this arrangement may be ending soon, as it is rumored that Disney is approaching other developers and publishers about taking over the Star Wars license. Cinelinx.com reports Disney has approached companies like Activision and Ubisoft with the prospect of taking over the Star Wars video game license. This would mean the end of Electronic Arts deal with the company, which still has five years left until it expires....

Remember Saints Row? The wacky open world reboot launched at the end of August to a lukewarm response. This month, developer Volition has a big patch ready to address hundreds of issues. This is the game’s first major update which Volition previously said would be used to prioritise fixes and improvements over new content. Last month, the studio said it had chosen to spend time bringing the existing game up to scratch - even though it would have “preferred to be talking about roadmaps and expansions”....

I sure can thanks to the new trailer that dropped for the Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodhunt battle royale game in development. We’ve actually known about this title for a little while now, but it doesn’t hurt to remind with a new look at how things are coming along. Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodhunt is in development by Sharkmob and apparently on track for a release later this year....

Sega have today announced new title, Binary Domain for the Xbox 360 and PS3. The game is a third person shooter with an emphasis on life and AI, with Yakuza creator Toshihiro Nagoshi heading up the development team. As the cinematic trailer (below) shows, the game will be set in the year 2080, where players will be plunged into a war between humans and an invading robot army. Gamers will play as a member of an international peacekeeping squad, patrolling the abandoned lower levels of Tokyo in what’s being described by Sega as a “fast-paced and intense battle for humanity” There will also be an online feature in this game, but it is unknown whether this will be co-op or multiplayer as of yet....

Sometimes less is more. Sure, it’s plenty of fun to farm enemies for rare drops and hit walls while hoping for secrets, but there’s a lot to love about a game that has no issue with cutting all the fat. Sheepo only takes a few hours to complete, but its difficulty is so finely-balanced and its pacing is so tight and focused that I wouldn’t want it longer. I even liked the complete absence of combat....

Ys Net has released a new Shenmue 3 trailer that tours the idyllic mountain villages of Guilin, China. Described as a ‘mood video’, this trailer doesn’t offer any plot or character introductions, and instead sails around the tranquil locations that players will visit in the next entry to the Shenmue series. There’s a quiet village, with a tiny market and sunflower grove. A cosmopolitan area is tucked away in the mountains, and its architecture is lit with dainty paper lanterns at night to a gorgeous sunrise....

When last we looked at Six Temples, it was in rough shape. While the concept was strong – a class-based multiplayer objective battle with third-person combat – it was still in the early stages in terms of its graphics and gameplay. Playing a match was also very difficult due to sparsely populated maps that felt like literal ghost towns. I’ll argue all day that Paul Verhoeven’s 1997 film Starship Troopers is a masterpiece. Yes, it’s a cheesy mess. But in true Verhoeven fashion, underneath its ridiculous, campy exterior is a still-relevant critique on tribalism and authoritarianism. And for the first time in 14 years, we’ll be getting a game: Starship Troopers – Terran Command, from developer The Artistocrats and publisher Slitherine.
