UPDATE 14/3/22: Stalker developer GSC Game World appears to have subtly changed the name of its upcoming and now on-hold sequel. Its full title, Stalker 2: Heart of Chernobyl, has been altered on Steam to Stalker 2: Heart of Chornobyl - reflecting the Romanised Ukrainian version of the name, rather than its original (which is based on the Romanised Russian). GSC hasn’t yet commented on the change, spotted by GamesRadar, although it’s not difficult to see why it has been made....

Emperor Palpatine is making a comeback to Star Wars Battlefront II as part of the game’s latest update, developer DICE has confirmed. The Dark Lord of the Sith was previously removed for about a month due to a nasty bug that allowed him to shoot Force lightning through walls. At the time however, it wasn’t known when Palpy would be returning. Fortunately these issues have been ironed out, so Palpatine plays more like he was intended as opposed to an over-powered supervillain....

EA has announced the first details on Star Wars Battlefront’s Season Pass, confirming that four major expansion packs are on the way for next month’s sci-fi shooter. Available for £39.99 on PS4, Xbox One and PC, the Season Pass offers players two weeks early access to each of the four packs, plus an exclusive ‘Shoot First’ emote. As per usual, EA Access members can grab the Season Pass at a slightly cheaper £35....

Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order may be the most important Star Wars game publisher Electronic Arts has ever released. After publishing an MMORPG and two multiplayer shooters, EA is finally releasing what many fans have been asking for since Disney bought Lucasfilm in 2012 and disbanded LucasArts’ development division: a story-focused, single-player Star Wars game. Traditionally, a single-player Star Wars game would be par for the course for a franchise that has found some of its biggest successes with such experiences (Knights of the Old Republic, Rogue Squadron, the Jedi Knight series), but it’s taken EA five years to get one on its slate....

Stikbold! A Dodgeball Adventure will launch April 1 on PC, April 5 on PS4 and April 8 on Xbox One, Game Swing and Curve Digital have announced. Twitch, in its never-ending quest to create a more inclusive community by making streamers fear for their livelihoods, recently banned streamer Viperous for seven days for “using hateful slurs.” According to Viperous, the ban was for using the word “nerd,” something she says she does on the channel all the time. While Viperous was playing a shooter game, she allegedly said “what is this nerd doing?” after she was killed by someone crouching in the corner....

Rocket League will soon be coming to the real world with the planned spring release of Zag Toys’ Rocket League Original Minis Pull-Back Racers, Psyonix has announced. This spring 12 of the game’s Battle-Cars will be available to buy, each packaged with its own Rocket Ball. Simply pull the cars back on the floor, release and watch them go. Some of the new toy racers will also include a code that can be redeemed in-game for a special Rocket Trail and Wheel....

It’s also only a dollar (or 99 cents if you want to get technical). That price is part of a limited-time sale, however, so you better act quickly. The next console generation is almost here and it’s starting to feel as if streaming will be one of the major deciding factors on who sells the most systems. There are now rumors circulating that Nintendo will be entering a partnership with Microsoft in order to secure streaming services for their games. We recently reported that Microsoft and Sony have announced a partnership to collaborate on technologies for their streaming services going forward....

It looks like the Xbox Series X may not even have any USB-C ports, which is bizarre. When USB ports were first invented, they were great. Finally, a single plug that would allow a computer to integrate all the various peripheral devices without needing to worry about a billion different hardware formats. It was glorious, and a wonderful trend for the PC hardware market in general. Flash forward a few years, and the original USB ports are now considered a joke....

Call of Duty creator Infinity Ward is reportedly working on a fourth entry in the Call of Duty: Modern Warfare series, according to two separate sources. First up, GamingIntel has heard that Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 is not only in development, but will apparently be a ‘full fledged’ affair complete with a traditional campaign, multiplayer, and Zombies. Battle royale is reportedly also in consideration, but nothing has been set in stone as of yet....

Coming-of-age title Sable is making its way to PlayStation 5 by the “end of this year”, publisher Raw Fury has announced. On its release, players will receive new content including a fishing mini game and an angler mask. There will also be the chance to add various fish and insects to your Vivarium. Meanwhile, developer Shedworks has said, thanks to the PS5’s DualSense controller, riding over the game’s sand dunes will be “as immersive as ever” with this release....
