The famous “oof” sound from Roblox, which was comically played whenever you met your maker, is no more. The developer revealed its removal yesterday, stating that this is all is due to a “licensing issue”. Instead, the company has now added a “replacement default sound”. To give some context of how widespread the attention for Roblox’s “oof” is, American rapper Post Malone used this sound in one of his remixes. This was reportedly because “his little one loves Roblox”....

There’s an old Lohman and Barkley radio sketch about a guy at a McDonald’s drive-thru whose brakes have failed. He’s persistent, though. He circles the joint, racing along, getting his order out in bursts. One…Burger… It’s a lovely joke, and a joke with a certain kind of shape to it. Something of the Doppler effect. Sony will be launching its next-generation console, the PS5, at some point in the holiday season of 2020. Saints Row is back after a seven year break, a proper 2022 series reboot from developer Volition that reinvents the series on several fronts - and I’m overwhelmed. Not because of the game itself - it’s good chaotic fun - but because of Volition’s approach to PS5 and Xbox Series X support. There are five different graphics modes - two at 1080p, two at 1440p and one at 4K - plus toggles for ray-traced ambient occlusion (RTAO) on the high quality 1080p and 1440p modes....

Two RPG subgenres that I definitely enjoy are Metroivanias and Souls-like titles. Thankfully, Salt and Sacrifice, the sequel to 2016’s Salt and Sanctuary, happens to combine both. Mind you, Salt and Sacrifice does offer some new concepts that attempt to keep your playthrough refreshing. Following the tease published a few days ago, D3 Publisher fully revealed its new game Samurai Maiden. The game is defined a “Girls Sword-fighting Action” title and it’s releasing this winter for PS5, PS4, Nintendo Switch, and PC. And yes, if you’re wondering, this includes North America and Europe. Those who purchase the PS4 version will also be able to upgrade to the PS5 version for free. The title, which is strictly single-player, is developed by SHADE Inc, which you may know for Kandagawa Jet Girls and Bullet Girls Phantasia....

Developer Booming Games has launched the beta for their sandbox medieval warfare game Conqueror’s Blade. This is a game that fans of medieval warfare may want to check out. Players have to fight to occupy cities and regions to earn more resources for improved weaponry. Think of it as a massively multiplayer online war game with several thousand square kilometers to conquer. This beta test includes different events such as The Kingdon War where players can occupy Cities, Villages or Passes as a House unit which is comprised of 1-40 players....

Rare has unveiled the latest monthly update for Sea of Thieves—titled Ships of Fortune—and it brings the new Emissary role to the maritime multiplayer adventure (via Gematsu). Emissaries work for one of the Outpost Trading Companies: Gold Hoarders, Merchant Alliance, Order of Souls and Athena’s Fortune. Players will now be able to become a representative for their favourite trading company, but it won’t come cheap. After a donation, Emissaries “advance through five Grades by exemplifying your chosen Company” and “the higher your Grade, the bigger the multiplier you’ll get when cashing in your haul!...

Shigeru Miyamoto has revetaled why he changed his perspective on Mario getting a new film adaption. Although it seems far away, Nintendo and Illumination are currently working on a new film starring the iconic red-hatted hero. According to Nintendo’s recent financial briefing, the Mario movie is on track for release in 2022. So, in two years, fans will be able to see Mario on the big screen for the first time since 1993....

Shroud has made the daring switch from Twitch to Mixer, and this time its an even bigger deal than Ninja’s leap of faith back in August. Most people hadn’t even heard of Mixer when Ninja abruptly announced his switch from Twitch to the Microsoft-owned streaming platform. A new Super Smash Bros. Ultimate glitch has revealed how much work went into building each level in the game. Joker from Persona 5 is now part of Super Smash Bros. Ultimate as a DLC character, but his arrival has not been without issue, as Joker has brought some series glitches into the game. A new glitch involving Joker’s Final Smash can be used to break the boundaries of the stage and can give the player a look at just how much effort went into making each level....

At Gamescom 2022 in Cologne, Twinfinite interviewed chief producer Yasuyuki Oda, and you know I had to ask whether the studio has any plans for the Metal Slug series. US rapper Snoop Dogg has called on Microsoft to “fix yo’ sh*t” after a server outage last night left Xbox players unable to connect to Xbox Live. The service is reported to have gone offline at around 7pm GMT yesterday evening, prompting Snoop Dogg to leave an angry message “to Xbox One or Microsoft or whoever the f**k” was responsible for restoring the servers. “A message to Xbox One or Microsoft or whoever the fk,” Snoop Dogg said in a video on Instagram....
