Rebellion has announced that Rogue Trooper Redux will come out on October 17, priced at £19.99. It will come to the PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC platforms first with a Nintendo Switch version due soon after. Rogue Trooper was initially released in 2006, based on the 2000 AD comic. Rebellion has said there’ll be numerous upgrades over the original version, with the weapons, characters and vehicles remodeled. There’ll also be remastered cutscenes, new lighting effects and graphical improvements to the level geometry....

Developer Damage State has released its first devlog detailing upcoming bullet hell FPS shooter, Scathe. This first video features lead programmer Chris Dawson talking about the challenges of bringing the genre into first person. Dawson says how most players will be familiar with the bullet hell genre from 2D side scrollers like Ikaruga & Cuphead. Translating those same mechanics into a first person view meant having to break expectations and consider the vertical axis....

Widespread layoffs are being reported via social media at Star Trek Online studio Cryptic, as reported by Massively. Former Perfect World Entertainment PR pointed to the layoffs at the firm’s wholly owned subsidiary in a now deleted Tweet, with a response calling the job losses “a slaughter”. Matt Miller, who had been working on Star Trek Online, also tweeted confirming he “got laid off yesterday”.
