Google rolling out “Click to Play” demos on Stadia, allowing players to try out games for free for a limited period of time. What’s more, these demos can be launched straight from a compatible web browser without needing a Stadia account. Players will also be able to access the Stadia storefront without an account, while games on the store will start showing up in Google search results. The feature was trialled out in October last year, which Google claims resulted in a 35% increase in click-through rates compared with Buy or Claim buttons, as well as a 70 percent boost in player engagement....

Ubisoft has sent word that Star Trek Bridge Crew, its Star Trek themed starship simulator, has now been patched to remove the VR requirement, meaning players who don’t have VR headsets can join the crew. The patch includes some graphical enhancements to the game that were created specifically to take advantage of the extra horsepower gained from not having to render things for VR, as well as support for Windows Mixed Reality....

Star Trek Bridge Crew will launch later than planned, now arriving for PlayStation VR, Oculus Rift and HTC Vive on May 30, Ubisoft has announced. The game features a virtual reality recreation of the bridge of Federation starship, the U.S.S. Aegis, a vessel created just for the game. Players can serve on the ship either as a solo captain or as an officer in a crew of up to four players....

In 2016, the Star Trek franchise celebrated its 50th anniversary, with over 700 episodes and thirteen films. A cult following has grown steadily throughout that time, and the franchise is now more in vogue than ever, which can perhaps be traced to the recent reboot of the series with the film Star Trek in 2009 starring Chris Pine and Zachary Quinto. Undead Labs’ survival sequel State of Decay 2 will launch on PC and Xbox One on May 22, Microsoft has announced. What’s more, the platform holder confirmed that the standard edition of the game will cost a wallet-friendly $29.99. There’s still an option to splash out if you want to, with the State of Decay 2 Ultimate Edition retailing for $49.99, which gives you access to the game on May 18 plus an Xbox One copy of State of Decay: Year One Survival Edition....

There is a new species pack being released for Stellaris on 7 December: The Humanoids Species Pack. In the dev diary announcing this pack, Martin Anward said that they had “a lot of extra art time” due to the code heavy nature of the work being done on the upcoming Cherryh update. So, due to popular demand, they decided to create a new species pack, and, because almost half of all games on Stellaris are started with some form of humanoid species, they decided to add 10 to the existing 5....

Devolver Digital and developer No Code are launching new Stranger Things-esque game Stories Untold with a free live event on February 27. Stories Untold is a four episode long ‘narrative thriller’, including a remaster of No Code’s previous narrative horror game The House Abandon. The event is being held at Loading Bar in Dalston (of course it is, because it is a games event taking place in London) and will feature ‘hosts’ which the attendees must help get through ‘the unknown horrors of Stories Untold’....

The Street Fighter 5 beta is set to open once again today and tomorrow, though initially only for stress tests, Capcom has announced. The tests will be live from 4pm BST until midnight on both days. Details on North American and Asian tests will be shared once Capcom has seen the results of the European tests. Capcom says it will confirm the dates and times of the official global beta test once it has “successfully completed each regional stress test”....

Developer Mixed Realms has released the new Sairento VR update which adds a new recording feature and new maps. Sairento VR is played in the first person, but thanks to a new plugin from Pryde VR, players can now see the action in third-person thanks to the new recording feature. Two new maps are also available, Shimokitazawa Street which is a network of urban clusters nestled atop Cyber Tokyo’s tallest building, and Yorokobi District which is home to Cyber Tokyo’s RoboGeishas....

She-Hulk: Attorney at Law started streaming its second episode today, and with the episode comes some huge easter eggs, one of which finally addresses a past MCU installment, while the other teases a major character that may be coming sooner than expected. Sifu, the acclaimed martial arts adventure from Absolver developer Sloclap, is being turned into live-action movie by John Wick writer Derek Kolstad. That’s according to Deadline, which suggests the movie will retain the same basic kung-fu-infused revenge plot as Sloclap’s video game, complete with the twist that its protagonist gets steadily older each time they’re resurrected by their magical pendant upon death, despite the world around them staying the same....
