RollerCoaster Tycoon 3 has today been pulled from sale on both Steam and GOG. The Steam page has no notice as to why it is no longer for sale but thankfully GOG has an update which states that the game is no longer listed due to “licensing issues”. Fans of body horror rejoice (I guess?), Scorn has been confirmed for a release window of October 2022. That is, it’s confirmed for all those who plan on picking up the game following its developer’s recent meltdown. The game was previously scheduled for a December launch. Sega has launched a mysterious new website that appears to be teasing a revival of cult arcade and Dreamcast release Cosmic Smash. Cosmic Smash, which initially launched back in 2001, saw players traversing a futuristic subway-style map, with each “stop” on the line challenging them to clear blocks at the end of a long room within a time limit, using a ball and racquet - making for an experience somewhere between Breakout and squash....

Following news that Like a Dragon: Ishin is coming to the West, Sega has confirmed that it is officially dropping the Yakuza name from its fan-favourite RPG series. This means that new games coming to what would’ve been the “Yakuza” series will carry the “Like a Dragon” name instead. Confirmation comes by way of Sega, which confirmed to Kotaku that as the Like a Dragon branding is “more closely align with the Japanese name”, it is formally dropping the Yakuza name from every new title going forward....

Living in the shadow of a legend is tough. Lazing in it can be worse. That goes for people, and if you suspect it also goes for franchises like Shaft, then you’re damn right. For a film built on decades of blaxploitation heritage, Shaft circa 2019 piles on the language, nudity, and more than a few gun-related deaths, but at the end of the day still incredulously feels closer to a ‘70s sitcom than it does grindhouse fun....

A few years after it became Kickstarter’s most successful video game project, Shenmue 3 has finally released. The new game begins right where its prequel left off over a decade ago, with Ryo Hazuki continuing to seek out his father’s murderer, and players are now getting an idea of just how long this new installment will take to play through. Teamfight Tactics is like League of Legends‘ less popular, smarter, unseen younger brother. UPDATE 1/2/23: Sony has issued a statement on yesterday’s report by Bloomberg that it had internally decided to cut its PlayStation VR2 shipment forecast due to lower than expected pre-order sales. In a comment passed to Eurogamer, Sony said it had not cut PSVR2 production numbers. “We have not cut PlayStation VR2 production numbers, and we are seeing enthusiasm from PlayStation fans for the upcoming launch, which includes more than 30 titles such as Gran Turismo 7, Horizon Call of the Mountain, and Resident Evil Village,” a Sony spokesperson said....

Star Wars: Battlefront II was officially unveiled over the Easter weekend. One of the more notable things to come from the announcement was the news of a single-player campaign. Walt Williams (Spec Ops: The Line) and Mitch Dyer (former IGN reporter and now at Jade Redmond’s EA Motive) are the writing duo behind the game’s story, Kotaku has reported.
